Muslims believe The Qur'an is the last of final message of God sent for the entire humankind. It's the latest update, the one that works best, like on your iPod, update v. 1.07 better then v. 1.06 or 1.05 which may contain errors. So the purpose of the Qur'an was to clear all misconceptions and things that were wrong with the previous scriptures.
One of these things was the misconception that the Earth was created in 6 days. We know it was 13.8 Billion years but this figure is nowhere mentioned in the Qur'an, the Qur'an mentions: 6! Then Muslims argue, the word days can also mean PERIODS.
Well. Imagine you are God. You know all and you know the Earth was created in 13.8 Billion years...but these STUPID people on Earth, they think it was created in 6 days, so, to clear out their misconception, you go to them and say it was created in 6 periods!
What retard would do such a thing, knowing how misleading that could be. Is God retarded? Why not give the 13.8B figure? OR AT LEAST SOMETHING CLOSE TO IT! If Allah had said 14B and our measurements show 13.8 FINE, our instruments are not as accurate as Allah but when it's mentioned 6, SIX! SIX! SIX! The figure 6 forever trashes all credibility of the Qur'an in the light of science. It could have been 6 pandas for what I know the second the figure 6 was added in the book the book became worthless!

Thanks, I meant to say "was created in 13.8B years" and not "is 13.8B years old". Keyboard slipped xDD
Because basically all the cosmological events that occurred after the big-bang were necessary to form Earth so I account them as steps towards Earth's creation.

This Universe was not always here, it has a beginning and it has an end, but what gave birth to the universe itself has no beginning and no end. It's an ongoing process according to Brian Greene, an infinity of universes pop up continuously, each having a different coefficient of dark energy or energy of empty space. It's called the inflation theory.

This is an examination , people who use their minds will pass this exam , people who persistently trying to hide truth and trying to distort the meanings of words will be flunked .
People want Allah to say "Moon was earlier was a source of heat and light , this feature was lost over time and started to reflects light from the sun"
Allah tell that in a very different way , he says he have delete the moon from night and have made it a noor to softly lighting for night .

Even the oldest muslim scholars had translated this sentence as "period" . This is not a new translation . We dont have any information about that this periods corresponds to a period of equal length with one another. There are different interpretations about this verse.

No... the book claims that a character called Allah tells it.
I've never heard any Allah tell me anything...
Can you understand the difference between a person saying something and someone claiming that someone else said it? (and to do it in writing!)
