That narrative doesn't have to be truthful, it just has to provide some kind of conflict, at least one twist to create some suspense, and a resolution that leaves some plot points open to keep viewers coming back. However you comport yourself, you might find that their edited portrayal of you is nothing like what you really are, and possibly very unflattering because hey... RATINGS!
Kelly Osbourne said that their producers bleeped out a lot of words they said which weren't profanity. Just to keep up an image, apparently.

I was just about to say not one person I have shared this with thought this was a good idea. I have already declined, which means I guess I am going to have to find my 15 minutes some place else.

I loathe reality shows, especially talent-type shows, following celebs and that sort of nonsense.
The only one I've watched on a regular basis was Cops.
Even that I haven't seen in years.

The only "reality" show I used to watch were those ghost hunter shows. I'd riff them like an episode of MST3K.

Not only are the ghost hunter shows funny to watch, but the Bigfoot hunter shows are pretty ridiculous, too. It's like, "let's send a bunch of guys out in the woods at night* to run around making strange "bigfoot" noises and eventually not finding anything."
*Why do they always have to go out at night? Haven't some "Bigfoot sightings" occurred during daylight hours?

Sounds to me like you made a decision which was above your pay grade, at least from the way you describe it. I hope you realize the irony in your thread title.
