Of course not, what makes ownership of another person good or bad is what you do with the life you have control over.

He's just following his beliefs to their natural conclusion. At least he's consistent.
The problem with elevating the Bible as being “the word of God” is that it was written by human beings, who lived at a time that was essentially the childhood of our species. It was a time of violence, misogyny, and barbarity. This is the 21st Century and I find the very idea of venerating an ancient text that has so very much wrong with it mind-boggling. It's a relic, an anachronism, from a very distant time when we were not really civilized at all.
Why can't they grok this? What is so hard about it? Iron Age nomadic tribesmen have almost nothing in common with modern people. They, through no fault of their own, knew very little even about their own bodies and how they worked. Looked upon as the relic that it is, it makes for a very interesting window into what life must have been like back then. Not as history, but more from a sociological perspective about that particular group of people at that particular time. Researchers have pretty much shown that as a history it leaves much to be desired. I myself think that it's a case of some people just need to have certainty and this sort of religiosity provides it. The fact that it is ancient, to them does not make it an anachronism, but rather makes it the wisdom of the ages. Chaos being the natural order things never bothered me much at all. But some need things to be orderly and certain. I am in no way trying to dump on anyone or what they believe here. I'm just one more person trying to figure out what works for me. Over the years, I've investigated and tried a bunch of things. In American culture the Bible is a big part of it. We're the most religious of the developed nations, and I don't see how this has helped us any. I've read that book, I know what's in it, and it is because of what is in it that I cannot accept it. I do not see how any person could if they have actually read it. It is a rather nasty document. Yahweh was kind of a vicious, jealous, vindictive psychopath as I see it. I guess that is why the more mainstream churches kind of leave it alone.
