RE: Jesus is Dead
That wasn't an issue. My wife thinks its horseshit, too.

She just doesn't waste her time on message boards!

I believe that these kinds of decisions should be talked about before children are involved.

Well, if you're religious and she's indoctrinating them with the wrong religion, you probably already have the right to kill her. Undecided

... but here in the modern world, where morality isn't decided by an angry, patriarchal, woman-hating wizard, one simply has to make sure that he does not impregnate a woman who worships said wizard.

If it's too late for that, than you'll just have to do the best you can with countermeasures. My best advice is to allow your children to read ALL the Bible. You know -- all the parts that no child should ever read. That evil book is its own undoing.

buhahahah!
These damned catholics play around the bible...
I just keep feeding the kids with enough "what do you think?" to try to get them to actually think about it... When it happens, it happens, and it will be so much better than just having not made them think about it.

Well, right up until some fucking christard attempts to put stupidity in my son's head.

I was forced to counteract just such rubbish when my son says at the dining room table, "papa, we didn't pray to jesus [for the food]."

I looked right at him and calmly said, "(son's name), we don't pray to dead people. Jesus died a long time ago and even if he was a good man, we don't worship dead people."

My point: Halfwits, if you want to worship a dead jew, go ahead, but please stay the fuck away from my family.

that Jesus is a symbol of Justice.

And Justice depends on "just us" being fair to each other in life.

It seems like Jesus is a symbol for anything you want. It is a primitive one, though.

A symbol of justice? Really? Jesus, who despised Gentiles, was rude to his own mum, caused some innocent pigs to be possessed and run themselves off a cliff, and displayed all the signs of a megalomaniac with a persecution complex?

Jesus as depicted in the Gospels wouldn't know Justice if it gave him genital warts.

Emily, what does you answer have to do with the OP's son? Do you go out of your way to convert the children of atheists to Christianity? If not, I don't understand why you responded as you did.

Also, Cinjin was dealing with this a freaking year ago. Stop Neroposting Emily.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Christians don't pray to the dead either. "This is now the third time that Jesus shewed himself to his disciples, after that he was risen from the dead." John 21:14

He is risen, He is risen indeed.

An interesting claim - when Xtians pray to all manor of dead people they call Saints - among others.
