I think the idea was that a flood wouldn't kill things that could breathe under water. Ignoring that fresh water fish can't live in salt water, and the raging rapids would kill a lot of fish anyway.
It's almost like the people who wrote the story didn't understand much about how things work in relation to altitude and different kinds of waters and ecosystems.

Fish are decidedly unholy. That's why god, rather than simply put them out of their misery, cursed them to smell like vagina.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

No.... It's a good thing god erased all the evidence of this global flood. Except he left the Grand Canyon there to remind us.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Yeah, I've heard the grand canyon used as evidence for the flood, but like Nye said you'd expect stuff like that everywhere if there was a world wide flood.

Right.
