Mount Everest is several miles tall.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

Genesis 7: 17-19

17 For forty days the flood kept coming on the earth, and as the waters increased they lifted the ark high above the earth. 18 The waters rose and increased greatly on the earth, and the ark floated on the surface of the water. 19 They rose greatly on the earth, and all the high mountains under the entire heavens were covered.

The bible says the high mountains were covered by the flood.
Mount Everest is the highest mountain.
Mount Everest is several miles tall.
Ergo, the water levels had to rise by several miles.
There is no evidence of anything like this happening.
Ergo, the story is bullshit.

Wait wait ... I know!

The mountains were smaller at the time of the flood.

I always figured it was for the same reason he's wearing the Ring of the Fisherman, because of the monicker "fishers of men". Alternatively because of the IXTYS acronym?

Are mountains measured in feet or miles?

So again I ask wouldn't a more accurate measure of a mountain be in feet?

Mt Everest is 29,029 feet or 8,848 meters or 5 and a half miles above sea level. I love google.

Wouldn't the fictional Noah have difficulty breathing if his boat could float above Mt Everest?

Confusedhock: What difference does that make? 5280 feet is still one mile. 63360 inches is still a mile. 1760 yards is still a mile. 1609.344 meters is still a mile.

Drich, and why the fuck would it matter? What does the unit of measurement have to do with the accuracy of the story?
