Be honest

RE: Be honest
If I can have favored siblings, and siblings that are such only by technicality... then so to can I apply these values to my children, my parents, and the candy I buy.

Equality is probably unfair. Smile

RE: Be honest
My mother always had a pretty clear favorite. Its always been an in joke between me and my two younger sisters. She also has a least favorite for some reason she really doesn't like me or even attempt to hide it. Which is one of the many reasons we don't speak anymore..

RE: Be honest
My parents had seven children - I have five brothers and one sister. It honestly never, ever occurred to me (and I don't think to any of my siblings) that Mum or Da might favour one over the others. We were all loved consistently, punished as needed, and encouraged in whatever we attempted.

As far as favoured parents go, I was MUCH closer to Da than to Mum. Don't get me wrong; I love my mother dearly, and I hope she's with us for many years to come. But my father was not only the best man I've ever known, he was also the best man I'd ever heard of.

That sounds a lot like my family (four brothers, two sisters), except that my father died when I was young, and my mother raised all seven of us essentially on her own. Like your dad, my mother was not only the best woman I've ever known, she was the best woman I've ever heard of. Smile

RE: Be honest
Oh, family...
My mum cheated on my dad, so they got divorced and me and my kid brother stayed with dad. We'd visit mum for a weekend every 2 weeks.
She tried to buy my brother off with presents he could only use when he was with her, and he went along with it... after all, he was only 2 and half when she moved out. I was 4.not much older, but enough to realize that I had to side with dad... didn't know the details, back then, but I knew mum did something bad.

Clearly, my mum favored my brother, but I didn't care.
My dad took equal care of us both.I can't say, to this day, if he has a favorite. We're different people and he deals with each of us in the best way he can... And I find him to be spot on, every time.

Now me... I have 3 kids. Is there a favorite?
There's the eldest that drives me nuts; the middle one gets along great with everyone, but has a few trouble spots... And the youngest keeps trying to outdo his big brothers... I can't pick a favorite...they're different...
I'm toughest on the eldest...he needs it.I pay more with the youngest and try to get the other to grow aware that not everyone is meant to be a friend...
