What would you think of making this a required safety feature?

I don't need to worry about a battery going dead or a stupid watch to remember. Besides, I'd look like a dumbass with watches going from my wrist to my elbow on both arms.

So, are all those guns useless because they might jam in a dangerous situation? Are your arms useless because you might miss? Your whole point is based on erroneous reasoning, especially since for every slight worry such a gun would give you, you no longer have to worry about anyone stealing your gun from you and using it on you. I'd suggest that, in the "things to worry about" category, getting shot in the face with your own gun is a much scarier imaginary concern.

I have never owned or fired a gun, nor have I ever needed to, which is how I know that this narrative you're trying to spin is overblown.

I don't think I'd trust 20 year old ammo.

Ooh, you should. I'd love to catch up and see what happens.

I can only assume that my firearms experience is relevant to this thread in some way, but fuck me if I can tell what it is.

I know it might all seem super complex to the kind of person who bandies about terms like "leftist agenda" and spins violent fantasies about all the times they haven't needed to use their guns but really wanted to, but this isn't actually rocket science. The anemic nature of your position shows in the way you dodged every point I actually made, there.

Ever been in a situation where you totally wanted to shoot someone but couldn't because your smart gun's battery is dead and you weren't wearing the wristband?

Shit, then I guess you have zero qualifications here too! Rolleyes

But Esquilax has an opinion and the right to express that opinion, whether he owns no guns or 5000 guns.

Yeah. I just looked it up on half a dozen gun forums. 20 year old ammo should be no problem.

This just reminded me of an atheist quote talking about theists who would argue about evolution. It said, "Since when did ignorance become an opinion?"

What good is stored ammunition in an emergency?

Why would not having handled a gun be ignorance on the subject that we're actually talking about? Granted, it's ignorance about how it feels to fire a gun and so on, but you can't even confirm I'm ignorant about the mechanics of the things. For all anyone knows, I could have a detailed schematic of every handgun ever made stored up in my head.

Which is, again, secondary to the issue of gun safety and whether these contentions we're dealing with are realistic or not. I don't need to have fired a gun to exist in the reality I do, where having one on hand has been completely unnecessary for me and everyone I know, in my entire life.
