It took 18 years, but Lawrence Lockman finally apologized yesterday for comments he made as press-secretary of a pro-life group on the issue of violence against women:

"If a woman has (the right to an abortion), why shouldn’t a man be free to use his superior strength to force himself on a woman?” Lockman said. “At least the rapist’s pursuit of sexual freedom doesn’t (in most cases) result in anyone’s death.”

Republicans said the darnest things. I know a good question to ask one of those guys. Just walk up to them and say, "Give me one name of a person who's been aborted. C'mon, give me a name."

You know how experiencing personal tragedy can make some Republicans very nearly human? Like when Sen. Mark Kirk had a stroke and the epiphany that low-income residents on Medicaid wouldn't get the same chance at rehabilitation that he got? And that that was bad? Well, that doesn't work with every Republican. Meet Arkanasas state Rep. Josh Miller, one of the Republicans trying to take Medicaid away from what is now about 100,000 people who've gained it through the state's Medicaid expansion.

Texas Republicans are unrepentant after a prominent member of their caucus referred to same-sex couples as “sodomites” and said that the nation’s founders would be appalled that they are being allowed to marry.

According to Houston’s KHOU, Conservative Republicans of Texas president Dr. Steve Hotze made the bigoted remarks in a press release supporting Harris County Republican Party Chairman Jared Woodfill, who is running for re-election.

“Our Founding Fathers would be furious to find out that the Constitution was being interpreted to allow sodomites to marry,” wrote Hotze in a Republican Party fundraising letter.

Fuck. The Founding Fathers would probably be furious to find out that blacks and women could vote, too.

Wasn't that the idea? That as human society progressed, we wouldn't be held back by archaic laws based on archaic thinking? The founding fathers seem to have had a lot more faith in us than we often have for ourselves.

I can't stand when people say 'the founding fathers said......" or "the founding fathers believed...." The founding fathers were a diverse group of people who believed in multiple and conflicting ideas. Some had slaves, some were abolitionists, some were democrats and some were even theocratic (Look up the beliefs of Patrick Henry!) They were had all kinds of beliefs. Some of them probably were 'Sodomites.'

According to Right Wing Watch, Michele says it’s all because of those meddling Jews and that schvartzer in the, previously, White House:

The Jewish community gave him their votes, their support, their financial support and as recently as last week, forty-eight Jewish donors who are big contributors to the president wrote a letter to the Democrat [sic] senators in the US Senate to tell them to not advance sanctions against Iran. This is clearly against Israel’s best interest. What has been shocking has been seeing and observing Jewish organizations who it appears have made it their priority to support the political priority and the political ambitions of the president over the best interests of Israel. They sold out Israel.

Steve King: Being Gay Is 'Self-Professed Behavior' That Can't Be 'Independently Verified'

The congressman went on to imply that LGBT people are making their identities known in order to entrap business owners into discriminating against them.

“The one thing that I reference when I say ‘self-professed,’” he said, “is how do you know who to discriminate against? They have to tell you. And are they then setting up a case? Is this about bringing a grievance or is it actually about a service that they’d like to have?”

Shit. What good is 'Murrica if you can't discriminate against someone?
