Christians, prove your minds aren't molested by fear.
RE: Christians, prove your minds aren't molested by fear.
Rebellion, self-conceit, licentiousness, etc. What else drives someone to adamantly reject God? ;-)

Rebellion yes. Against constant allegations of self-conceit and licentiousness, not to mention the usual guilt tripping and fearmongering, IS enough to drive someone to adamantly reject god.

Repentance: I'm more random than that. I see it as humility and respect which empowers me. It isn't a fearful thing in that I'm scared in any way or that fear of a negative kind motivates me in any way.

"Fear of God" to me is respecting what's right and good and helping yourself.

Why do you need 'fear of god' to respect what's right and good, when everybody knows instinctively what is right and good.

That instinct is what Christians refer to as your God spot.

You completely misunderstood what I wrote, as short as it was. I'm inspired by God. I would do good from that inspiration where ordinarily I would have no reason to.

Fear, as you mean it, plays no part in my Christian experience at all. It's awe. It's freedom. I'm not restricted by thinking that negativity forms part of my freedom. Negativity is imprisonment.

I know on Christianity using your intelligence (sorry, I mean eating from the tree of knowledge) is associated with all those things.

Clown, that episode is about reasoning only from the sensual nature, just like materialists do.

Do you guys ever shorten it to, you know...
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Whatever sugar coated version christianity has evolved into, it has always been built on fear. Fear of what happens to you when youre dead, fear of what god will do to non believers, not to mention the vile things the church have done to people throughout history to instill fear.

But ok, so its not fear that motivates you. Lets remove that for a moment.

Why would you need something external, whether real or not, to make you into a good person.
