Healthcare in America

The thing is, I can understand what they are doing. Expanding Medicare is a much better option. It's a government program that already works, and the Public Option was so watered down it was barely anything at all. I didn't want that public option.
I want medicare for everyone (As Keith Olbermann calls it, Medicare Part E). Expanding Medicare seems GREAT to me, but only if it's for everyone.

Agreed. Passing this bill that mandates every American must buy Health Insurance, but then removing the device that would keep insurance affordable and competetive seems like a cruel joke on the lower class, and a shining gift to the insurance companies. I really hope the Democrats have some crazy ace up their sleeves, because right now they're driving the idea of reform into the dirt. Medicare for Everyone!

Robert Reich, the 22nd Secretary of Labor, wrote that the public option was dead and that fear of Big Pharma and Big Insurance killed it. [1] I do recall that Medicare has some fundamental flaws that the new public option was supposed to fix, as in the red tape that prevents from life saving medications to be administered, like ending anti-rejection meds after several months even though you need a whole life of anti-rejs. But hey, as long as we have our Glenn Beck and republican fear machine, America is fucking safe from socialism. [1] http://robertreich.blogspot.com/2009/12/...re-on.html
Hey,
Quote:You can say you disagree with him but you can't say he hasn't implemented change. He has implemented change, but in the wrong direction in ym humble opinion. The health care debacle is making a worse mess out of what was already one of the worst first-world systems. The improvement of the "Iraq situation" is minuscule. I don't hate Obama because he hasn't implemented radical change yet, that is silly. I hate Obama, and have since I figured him out years ago, because he is part of this whole dog and pony show. Obama is an actor, a figurehead, a person chosen and groomed to be a shiny president (and look how shiny after 8 years of illegal Bush Jr), and the agenda he is furthering is the exact same as has been for the last 4 presidents. The only thing I will give credit to on your list is that is appears he did throw out a lot of lobbyists, but so did Brian Mulroney, and there is no way you can tell me he was a good leader for Canada. A few less lobbyists is a good step, but just one little step. The Guantanamo thing was just positioning. Did Obama say America wasn't gonna torture anymore? No. Did he close all out-of-country interrogation facilities? No. Just closed (and there is some evidence gitmo is still up and running) the most popular, the most visible interrogation center. I hate him because I have figured out the fraud that the totality of American politics represent. Quote:P.S. You're racist. You're right! I never realized until you pointed it out! Don't you see how that is part of the trick, the fact that he's half black? Think what you will, but I think Obama will bring upon the final shift from sketchy America to literal Nazi America. Wait and see, and we hope I am wrong. It will be far worse than the aforementioned Mulroney was for our country. Man he was the worst, David Icke accused him of being a 12-foot tall shape shifting lizard... Interesting It is fallacious to insist that I am upset at Obama because he hasn't made the changes I thought he meant when he made vague promises soon enough. I hate him because I don't like being lied to. -Pip (December 11, 2009 at 10:07 pm)Pippy Wrote: I don't hate Obama because he hasn't implemented radical change yet, that is silly. Oh Pippy, I thought we went over this one already. You have no evidence except a few carefully mined "facts" that prove nothing. You should know by now we don't by into conspiracy theories that don't provide an ounce of legitimate proof. Obama's hands aren't tied because some shadow government is running the show, his hands are tied because congress is ineffective. The Democrats have been trying to make healthcare bipartisan, but the republicans won't have it. In fact all the evidence shows they will do everything they can to stop healthcare because they think it will be like a victory that will get a republicans elected in the senate in 2010 and presidency in 2012. Meanwhile the Democrats aren't as single minded as the Republicans are, and you have the centrists, the leftists all arguing about what should be done. It's a mess.

Great.
Now everyone's favourite Democrat, Joe Lieberman is threatening to filibuster any bill with an expansion of Medicare to 55-64 year olds. Even better, the White House is apparently pressuring Harry Reid into making a deal with him. Thanks for looking out for everybody, Joe. This is shaping up to be a nightmare of a "reform". No public option. No expansion of medicare. Mandatory health insurance... Great.
