Kids need to stop being told to "find something they love" as a profession. Work isn't fun. That's why it's called work and that's why they pay you to do it. Find something you love as a hobby, work to pay for it.

There are so many people going into irrelevant arts programs, or burning away years of their lives and tens of thousands of dollars trying to "find their calling" because teachers have been telling them they should feel like a kid at Disneyland when they go to work.

Too damn right Meatball. Although you can still love what you do/ be passionate about it. Most of us in modern society are the offspring of people who knew harder times and wanted the best for their children. A fulfilling job being top of the list. Immigrants typically need to access wealth and have a good work ethic.

This generation of children especially in the more developed countries are dumb as dog shit. They are self absorbed and education is the last thing on their minds. They are too busy playing video games, text messaging, and spending countless hours on the internet chatting etc. Here in the U.S. parents buy 6 and 7 year old kids cell phones. Now what the fuck does a child need a cell phone for? Especially to take to school? There are so many cases of children being kidnapped and raped thanks to social network web sites like myspace and facebook. Now the predators don't even have to leave their homes to find under aged victims. With a cell phone they can take perv pics of children and post them on the web.

Where I live at I personally know of two girls that live in my building they are sisters and the both got pregnant at 13 years old and now they are 16 and both have two children. Children in these countries grow up way too fast and are not equipped to handle maturity at such a young age so they spin out of control.

I couldn't hear you more. What I have been struggling with for years is the question of why modern societies keep making humans worse, or modern humans makes societies worse. Ah the philosophy, the great and ponderous why.

I just wonder, is it a flaw in us that we have exploited to keep getting less and less functional, or is it a manipulation? Is someone doing this to us, or are we all doing it to ourselves?

It's a good point you bring up chatpilot, I feel very deeply for those younger than me and their steep uphill battle.

Modernity is a two edged sword Pip. As in all things anything can be used for good or evil and modern technology is no exception. Years ago identity theft and such things weren't so much of a concern. We could send our kids to school and know that they were okay, but today's world is so different and much more dangerous than my day. Child molestation crimes are up, abductions, rapes, and computers facilitates these illegal activities.

There are web sites where you can purchase a prostitute who are usually women from foreign countries held against their wills. The list goes on and on. This is just the evil that modern technology has provided but of course there is some good.

But I am driven by a causal mind. So the first though I have is the philisophical and eternal WHY.

Why are there more molestation crimes? Is there some positive function to them? Does mental illess have a integral part that is about bad ideas, and bad ideas can spread like memes. Does our modern world lead to more mental illness? Why? Why do women get married on-line, what kind of poverty and hopelessness and lack of self worth gets them in that position?

My brain constantly does that, I want to know what caused this effect.

I don't know if it is just human weakness, I get the impression that someone somewhere is trying to fool us into beung dysfunctional. But that's just me.

I think knowing the percentage of child molesters would be useful. Perhaps the actual percent isn't going up, just the number of people committing these crimes because the total population is increasing.

Are there "more" or does it simply seem that way? We now know that the catholic church in Ireland was a hotbed of molestation in the 1930's. But we are only hearing about it now. The stigma associated with being the victim of such crimes seems to have lessened and more of the victims are coming forward. Does that mean there is more of it "now."
