1. The work of a brain surgeon and the work of a garbage man are not of equal value. The garbage man is not capable of doing brain surgery however the surgeon would have no problem performing trash duty.

I'm not talking about human ability to perform a function, I'm talking about the value of roles within processes. Our current remuneration models are based around scareceness of ability: the rarer your skill, the greater your remuneration however we see this leads to people manipulating society so that the perception of rarity is used rather than the rarity itself. Also using W.E. Demming's statistical models, we see that human skill only impacts ~5% of all process outcomes therefore 'rarity' is not an appropriate means of determining value in the vast majority of scenarios. Instead it's better to examine the overall value chain of the process and equally distribute remuneration through it. That means the bin man gets paid the same as the surgeon because they're both adding value to the overall process.

2. If you did pay the trash man what the surgeon made it would be no different than the reverse. The economy would adjust to it and everyone would make a low wage. This would result in performers not giving a shit and you wouldn't have anyone worth a damned to remove your tumor.

Not true. Studies into reasons behind human motivation demonstrates that greater remuneration increases neither the likelihood of a role being performed nor the level of competence with which the role is carried out. Here's a great video summary by Dan Pink:

All jobs are. What's your point?

Different jobs must pay differently. I am a highly skilled technician in electronics, mechanics, and hydraulics. I get payed much more than anyone I work with because I have a higher level of skills than anyone in my company. Basically I fix what others can not fix. They don't have the ability to do it.

I would not do this job if I could get a cushy air conditioned low stress easy job that payed the same. I would walk away from doing what I do now. The reason I do it is because I am good at it and that translates in to money.

Your theory is very flawed. You can get all the videos you want but it is just fantasy to believe it. The real world doesn't work that way.

Because that only applies to the public domain. As a 22 year old girl I can safely say that my mouth is not public domain.

I don't believe there was a historical Jesus, Muhammad or Buddha for that matter. I am not sure if that is unconventional or not.

I believe that multi-partnered marriages should be legally recognised.

I believe where appropriate, nudity should be legal.

I believe schools achieving more than certain literacy and numeracy standards in children. They should ensuring that children should have the minimum level of ability to understand the scientific method and use of critical thinking.

I believe everybody (apart from asexual people) are bisexual to some degree or another.

Funny thing is, not many westerners have a problem entertaining the idea that there was no Siddhartha, no rejection of his royal birthright and quest to end suffering. That it was all allegory.

But if you ask if the same is plausible with Jesus, they flip out. Culture is such a blinder.

I'd like to think Jesus and Siddhartha existed. I'd very much like to think Jesus, like Siddhartha, was a smart and charismatic character who wanted to make things better, and warned his followers not to write down anything he said, and focus on the teachings, lest it become codified, dogmatic, and eventually identical to the predominant religion they rebelled against.

Who knows. History has a tendency of making key figures larger than life, whoever they were based on.

Unless our description of 'appropriate' varies wildly, this is already the case, I'm pretty sure. Can you give an example of a place/environment where you feel it should be legal and it isn't?
