I usually just laugh inside, knowing that it is simply self delusion, but I just saw this cute cartoon and it struck me that if we are simply god's pets and our purpose is simply to praise him for all eternity, then it's not reassuring to have such a purpose, it's degrading.
You need to show that Christians are pets, your assumption is not humorous it's pathetic. We are children of God and will live with Him for eternity. The purpose God gives Christians, is to be part of His plan, to redeem those who desire to know God. God brings into our lives spiritual purpose that covers a huge variety of things to do and our accomplishments are spiritual. We do have to manage our lives in this world and God helps us through life as long as we will accept, we are not to be involved in worldly things that would take us from our spiritual endeavors with God. God gives us spiritual insight into life's purpose and guidance in living that life with purpose.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Why do you have such a desire to be subservient?

Because thinking is hard.

Serving God doesn't mean we are puppets or don't think. When you work for someone, you decide to serve that person. We're thinking people who make our own choices, and we choose to serve God, and in doing so, to serve others. Many people believe in a specific cause and they serve that cause. Many people serve themselves and it leads to no good for themselves or for anybody else.

If 'free will' is the ability to sin, then yes, it means you are, or are trying to be, a puppet who just does what it is told without question or thought, though however occasionally, you glitch, leading you to express your free will and do things that are self-serving.
I really love that emphasis on 'self-serving' being a pejorative, by the way. It's a hallmark trait of a chronic abuse victim.

Sounds like you look forward to being God's lapdog, licking him for all eternity and begging for treats.

Your lack of understanding simple scientific principles is evidence enough you don't want to think, and want to be a sheep who is told what to do, how to think, and never critically examine what you're told.

What you just said shows that you don't think. You ignored what I said and then went on to tell me what I want. And why do you say that I don't understand simple scientific principles?

What you just said shows that you don't think. You ignored what I said and then went on to tell me what I want. And why do you say that I don't understand simple scientific principles? To me Rampant seems to need to feel intellectually superior to believers. He very rarely gives serious replies.

Yeah, but if the guy I was serving was making me do so at the end of a knife, by threatening me with a room full of magic fire if I don't serve him, I wouldn't be spending all my time trying to convince myself that that guy must be morally good.
It's not that you don't think, it's your commitment to sculpting your thought processes around an old, demonstrably flawed instruction manual, for better or worse. That willingness to sacrifice your will on the altar of conformity, irrespective of the effects, is what leads me to believe you aren't interested in what your thoughts are, only how close you can make them to the pages of the bible.
