Next They'll Be Wanting to Burn Them

Yes, you do.....with muslims.

Who, curiously, also arose at roughly the same time period.

Quote:The modern Islamic fundamentalist movements have their origins in the late 19th century.[27] The Wahhabi movement, an Arabian fundamentalist movement that began in the 18th century, gained traction and spread during the 19th and 20th centuries

Most likely for the same reason..... primitive fuckheads who are uneasy with the modern world and seek to cling to what they perceive as a happier time.

I was responding to the idea that was in the snippet that I quoted, since you opined that it was "often the case" that parents "just don't care" about their children. As for perpetuating the stereotype, I made sure to mention that it was my own experience that this was the case. I don't know if it's an unfair stereotype, and I suspect that you don't, either.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Are you fucking with us, or are you truly this deluded?

I was being facetious. Evidently it didn't work on you. But one I've been trying to point out is that if two people have sex just for fun and don't love each other, then they will be prone not to want or care for a child born of that act. I get the birth control thing, but still babies are born anyway. Sometimes a woman may lie about taking birth control pills or whatever. A child deserves love and support from both parents.

Sorry, but it's impossible to know when someone that believes in a resurrected magic man is being facetious.

Man, that persecution card is at the top of your deck, isn't it?

And maybe it is a false stereotype, but I lived it, so it is real for me.

No one is saying that every time you are teaching your kids not to have sex until they are married, you are damaging them, and hurting them.

No, rather we (at least I) am saying that there is a healthier way. Teaching kids to wait for sex until marriage leads to not being prepared for sex. It makes it this big, gigantic thing that it isn't. Also, how do you know if a partner is sexually compatible? It is so fucking stupid to wait until you are legally bonded to a person to find out whether your sex drive is compatible, you have parts that fit the right way, the same sexual desires? The only reason for something so backwards is to preserve some archaic idea of sexual morality.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

If you think of sex as strictly for reproductive reasons, you will have sex exactly enough time to typically have one or two children. Unfortunately we've heard all kinds of stories about husbands and wives cheating on each other because someone else gives them better sex. Given this fact, you'd think it would be more acceptable to either have sex before marriage or have marriages not be lifelong commitments.

Let's say you don't want premarital sex. Ok, have marriage be for about 20-25 years. That gives enough time to have one or two kids, raise them to adulthood, and have the contract expire by the time your children are ready to start their own contracts. You may then renew your marriage, or not renew it. I'm not sure why making it until death do you part is needed.

Xtians make it so easy to despise them.

Christians have been burning books for 2,000 years. It's one of their favorite hobbies.

Which is really terrible and stupid advice. Marry someone and then find out you're not sexually-compatible, and it's a recipe for a multitude of disasters.
