Probably brain-strain, if I were feeling uncharitable.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

Why, because you can't understand it?
You're attempting -- and failing miserably -- to equivocate between thoughts, for which there is substantial empirical evidence, with a deity for which by definitionno empirical evidence is possible, and then pointing to that purported entity as the reason rational thought is possible.
You're skipping a metric tonne of steps along the way.
This is your argument:
p1 I can't figure out how rational thought is possible.
p2 I assume you also can't figure out how rational thought is possible.
p3 I need to know right now how rational thought is possible, so I'm going to fabricate an explanation.
c1 The Lucky Charms leprechaun makes marshmallows magically delicious; and also makes rational thought possible.
I'm not fabricating, but you are..
read again: Explain human consciousness and rational thinking in purely
naturalistic terms . if you can't ,then just say so.
I just did. What's your response?
Many other animals than Humans exhibit consciousness. Even Fruit Flies deliberate before making difficult decisions. And yet we're told by the bible those animals aren't conscious, because they don't have souls. Why is that?

On the other hand, you claim rational thought is impossible without some gawd but can't seem to provide any evidence for this positive claim. It's something you really should do if you ever want to be taken seriously.
Of course, most of us here will understand if you're (like all the other faithers that have trudged through here) unable. We've seen it before, we'll see it again.

Actually, you can at least infer a negative, if the positive affirmation should leave traces of its existence but doesn't.

False dichotomy. Explain how you know rational thought requires an entity you cannot demonstrate the existence of without circular reasoning.
Consciousness is an internal narrative composed often in reverse and slightly out of sync with events, to order reality in a way that is comprehensible to the organism for survival. It is an evolved adaptation to the environment allowing for difficult decision making, of which abstract conceptualization is a further adaptation.
Explain how God is possible, and base it on evidence.
Evolved adaptation ,but evolved from what?
Beaks became noses , fins became arms , wings became legs ,but where and why and from what did human reasoning and self perception evolve ?
can you explain this. i don't think you can..
And ,how can you say god doesn't exist for lack of empirical evidence.
Have you travelled from one end of the universe to the other and you've peeked behind every planet and photographed behind every star and you can now say with certainty :god doesn't exist because you saw none.
WOW! what an ego!
Just because you see an entity that does a lot of fancy tricks you could be making a serious mistake to conclude that it's a god.

You know one , that does fancy tricks ..
You know belief ,in the final analysis ,doesn't share anything with god deniers.
It has to do with perceptions and interactions . That's where you find god.
Scientific truths are just that and nothing more. Spiritual truths are based
on compelling faith ;a faith based on the undefinable.
But supplies a real need in human consciousness. . And in so doing, creates its own proof.

You're saying spiritual "truths" are based on nothing but faith, while science is based on evidence, and then trying to equate strong faith with proof, or evidence.
That would be consistent with this study linking long-term religious belief in contradictory ideas to observable, measurable brain damage
