Are you saying that you actually believe that you are gonna scheme and kill to get what you want if you went back to being an atheist? You gonna let a book tell you who you are?
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!
Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.
Dead wrong. The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.
Quote:Some people deserve hell.
I say again: No exceptions. Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it. As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

Other than church you really don't get out much, do you? What you believe about atheists is a stereotype and a little insulting, but most of all hilarious. This is something I just pulled out of my ass:

Interesting. This is something out of the Bible about what happens when you do have god in your life:
When you march up to attack a city, make its people an offer of peace. If they accept and open their gates, all the people in it shall be subject to forced labor and shall work for you. If they refuse to make peace and they engage you in battle, lay siege to that city. When the Lord your God delivers it into your hand, put to the sword all the men in it. As for the women, the children, the livestock and everything else in the city, you may take these as plunder for yourselves. And you may use the plunder the Lord your God gives you from your enemies. This is how you are to treat all the cities that are at a distance from you and do not belong to the nations nearby.
Deuteronomy 20:10-15
I guess the more things change, the more they stay the same.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

You know, there are passages in every holy book about how horrible everyone is when they don't believe them. It's part of the self reinforcing delusion of religion, that it makes you afraid of ever not believing the bullshit. Personally, I don't believe in any of them, but observing this fact about how holy books are constructed does lead me to ask a simple question: why the hell should I believe your holy book's claim about how terrible I am over anyone else's? After all, you haven't provided any evidence that your god exists, and if islam is true then you're a terrible person, and not to be trusted!
You're gonna have to do better than spouting scripture, godwad. We don't believe that it's true, and the fact that some fatuous, anonymous bible thumper wants to believe bad things about us for no good reason is no great worry.
It just makes you an asshole.

I, personally haven't found that passage in james to be true in my life. That's just my experience of not scheming and killing to get what I want - which I do not have. My experience of not being able to pin down a jealousy, or some thing i set my heart on that was completely out of reach. Certainly never waged any war for any of that. My experience of having the things I want, without having asked god for them.
I wonder for whom would this (the passage in james) be true? Do you know anyone who's experienced this?

This is something out my ass this morning:
"Those who maketh shitty arguments are lo!, lo-er than whale droppings! Slimier than a squids tentacles! Oh God! Please sendeth thy A-team once in a generation that we may see and know the Error of Our Ways! These third-rate apologists are sorely vexing to your Children!"
JesusHChrist 2341:12-6.2
So, this is going to be your mode? Through crappy argument out. Get rebutted. Not engage with rebuttal. Through out another crappy argument. rinse/repeat?

That's funny. When was the last time there was a secular war?
For the last few thousand years, it's been Christians killing non-Christians for not being Christian enough, or using this as justification to conquer land and resources. Let's see:
Crusades
Inquisition
Conquistadors
Native American Genocide
KKK
WWII
Religious Right Movement, including all hate crimes and domestic terrorism
Iraq
Afghanistan
A bunch of this shit:
Some of this shit:
More shit:
As if that wasn't enough shit:

Really? I mean really? Just what is it that you have that you think any atheist wants? What bothers you about atheists is precisely that we don't want what you have not that we want it.
And what is it you have----a two thousand year old set of delusions? I don't want them. If I want to read fantasy, there's better out there than the Bible, better philosophy too. If you hang around I might talk you out of your delusions. But you won't find me going door to door with Ingersoll tracks. That's a Christian racket. You came here. No one collared you and dragged you in.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god. If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.
