I have to disagree. Faith as commonly used outside of a religion is belief with weak evidence or at least a reasonable belief even without supporting evidence. I have faith that when I drive somewhere that I will not be killed by some asshole driving the wrong way. True, it happens sometimes, but there's plenty of evidence that people keep to their own side of the road. I have faith that my wife's not cheating on me. No hard evidence, but no activity/behavior to indicate something might me going on either.
Now, blind faith, or religious faith, as I prefer to call it. That's another matter and what the religious are usually referring to when they use the word faith. This is a belief that's held without, or in the face of contrary, evidence. It's also pure bullshit.

Ah as in I have faith in humanity, or my children, or my husband, or our government. Yeah that is a common usage. But I don't think that's what Christians mean by faith in God.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god. If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.
