You are right that concept of fasting is almost in every culture and religion. However, I don't think that its reason is food shortage but mainly its about the self control and discipline regarding hunger, anger, silly desires etc etc and doing good deeds.

Basically its concept is to try stopping one from being an idiot for one month. But if you are already a good human being and doing good deeds , not harming anyone then do you really need some controlled Fasting to do so?? .......Just continue to be good ... Smile
