I don't even like the question, because it presupposes that there is an objective to our existence. We aren't tools or cars or toasters or chairs, we're humans, and there's nobody that can define what our 'purpose' is. It'd be like someone choosing your major for you in college or telling you what kind of movies you like. Your meaning can be derived from just about anything, as long as you aren't hurting other people to get it.

We live for our friends, family ? then what they will also eventually die. If even if we become successful scientist or businessman then what? Why are we surviving, bound to natural selection and all those stuff.
Cockroaches and crocodiles are far more primitive than humans. Even now they are where they were 100 millions years ago. They are surviving as well.
We humans have just adapted to survive effectively. But why? Nothing will change if human population increase.
The only reason I can come up with is human extinction or end of world due to overpopulation and over utilization of resource.
Life doesn't have to have a meaning however, humans like to think it does.
Which would make the better question, why do we think life has to have a meaning?

"I think I use the term “radical” rather loosely, just for emphasis. If you describe yourself as “atheist,” some people will say, “Don’t you mean ‘agnostic’?” I have to reply that I really do mean atheist, I really do not believe that there is a god; in fact, I am convinced that there is not a god (a subtle difference). I see not a shred of evidence to suggest that there is one ... etc., etc. It’s easier to say that I am a radical atheist, just to signal that I really mean it, have thought about it a great deal, and that it’s an opinion I hold seriously." - Douglas Adams (and I echo the sentiment)

Why do people atheist or theist try to insert a hidden meaning or "altruistic" meaning to life? You simply do because we evolved to strive to survive. Why do you go to a movie or sporting event knowing it will end? Why do you go to a music concert knowing it will end? If we didn't evolve to survive we wouldn't look both ways when crossing a street. You live because you do. It isn't about a deep meaning as much as it is about what you do between birth and death.

Yes.
Along with the quesion why, which always pre-supposes a reason.

Ideally you would choose something constructive, but I do realize not everyone chooses a healthy meaning of life.

We live, not for the reasons in our head, but for the feelings in our breast. We live because it's what we do.

As for me... I'm living this life to be kind and loving to the best of my ability. I spend this life seeing the good, and striving to support and expand that good. For me, this life is a beautiful thing. Cheers

If someone put a gun to your head, the question would be answered.
