Blaspheming the holy spirit
July 27, 2014 at 7:52 pm
There is on particular theist who I really hope answers this thread, but I won't mention him by name. Don't want this to be a call-out thread because I'm interested in the answer from any theist about this question.
Do you believe in any unforgivable sin? Especially the one described in the buy-bull of blaspheming the holy spirit.

It is a 'handy' one from the atheist perspective. Once an individual utters an unforgivable blasphemy, they are ours.

It's odd that, of all the horrible things out there, the one unforgivable sin is talking negatively about Yahweh or Jesus.

Actually, the unforgivable sin is thinking that a miracle of God's is the work of demons or just, as Han Solo says, "a bunch of magic tricks and nonsense."
Luke: You don't believe in the Force, do you?
Han Solo: Kid, I've flown from one side of this galaxy to the other, and I've seen a lot of strange stuff, but I've never seen *anything* to make me believe that there's one all-powerful Force controlling everything. 'Cause no mystical energy field controls *my* destiny. It's all a lot of simple tricks and nonsense.

Either way, I can't say I care much about what he might think, whether he's real or not.

None of you qualify.
!) having tasted of the Heavenly Gift (Jesus) and the power of the age to come (the manifested gifts of the Holy Spirit- that is -supernatural knowledge, healing, miracles).
2) considering the blood of Christ a common thing.
3) there remains no repentance and thus, no remedy
4) a pig going back to the mire
The above sequence is a paraphrase of what is written.

You've certainly tasted something, prof, but I don't think it was the Holy Spirit.
