The Image Problem With Atheism in America

If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.

Dead wrong.  The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

Quote:Some people deserve hell.

I say again:  No exceptions.  Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it.  As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

I think you might want to narrow down that "we" a bit.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

I would probably laugh at it and care little about such futile injectives. Every person is different, I guess. Even i it somehow offended me, it wouldn't warrant action from the staff.

From that objective point of view, the only action was to speedbump the thread in hope that the intervenients accrued time to cool their jets, to avoid further development of this flamewar, stuff that is part of forum moderation.

This wasn't a flame war, the attacks were completely one sided.

Where, doing what, and when?

I studied at a university for three years in Washington D.C. beginning in 2006, lived just outside the city for another two years. I visited the NASA center in Huntsville, Alabama including the control room for the ISS, visited Virginia (as far south as Norfolk, even if I drove further south on a trip) many times as it was across the river (best spot in America is Williamsburg), visited North Carolina and thought the food was great and the people were less crazy than the Virginians (a surprise to me), went down to Florida to see Disney World (was not a fan of the rain down there). I also visited West Virginia a few times, a state I wasn't including earlier but then realized that it as well is south of the Mason-Dixon line.

Hey Polaris, am I still a liar?

I already stated my case and based it upon your reactions to the customs of Moslem people. It is indeed Isampohobic to insult the customs of Moslems without any real purpose but to insult them as Minimalist did in a thread. You stated that you agreed with him and that it was not Islamophibc. Take it as you will.

You have no idea what the word phobia means do you?
If the hypothetical idea of an afterlife means more to you than the objectively true reality we all share, then you deserve no respect.

What did I lie about? I still don't know because you still haven't told me.

I suppose it's pointless denying your accusations as you obviously haven't listened to me the last 3 or 4 times I have.

You think that insulting customs such as oppression of women, stonings, honour killings and suicide bombings are 'without any real purpose'?

It's taken on a new definition when it was applied to homophobia (same definition change now used for Islamophia) or maybe it was the anti-gay people who changed the perception themselves from turning from being uneasy among homosexuals to flat-out hating and insulting them. Words constantly change in the English language.

Bad Wolf, Min insulted the women, not the men in his rant. He pulled a "be like us or get the fuck out" bullshit in that thread.
