Sure. Why not? Like any other theist, you can speculate (make up) any god-story you like. Just don't expect to be taken seriously by rationally minded people.

When a concept involve any one of the three words "god", "heaven", and "spirit", it is on the whole more likely than not to be bullshit. When it involves two out of those three words, one could be sure that one would not be far wrong to dismiss it out of hand as total bullshit. When involves all three, one should involve the fraud prevention department.

Thanks for the responses, I hope they were as much fun for you all as I got out of reading them.
I go out to fix my tractor, chat with my buddy, and I come back to 3 pages. Amazing.

Yes, that's one word for it. You may even be right.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

Sounds like Mormonism. They maintain we lived in heaven, came here to be tested, and have no recollection of our prior existence.
So, are you preaching the doctrine of Mormonism, coming up with a new way to reconcile the problem of evil, or telling us that birds aren't very reliable sources of information?

And here we are. This concept is used as a justification for what, exactly, what does this excuse god for? The underlying implication of something like this is that if we -didn't- ask, god would be an insufferable prick, not worthy of worship. So I guess the folks that come up with this shit are already about half of the way to where I'm at with regards to said god, eh? I find that comforting, because sometimes I wonder whether or not the faithful have a single shred of decency in them-that their faith had completely robbed them of their humanity.

Cool story, bro. Those spirits sound awful anxious to get out of heaven...must not be that great.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

Another salient point that I neglected (I assume that you're looking for ways to debate this with some mouth-breather who worships a different fairy) - is that such a statement abrogates cosmic authority from god to man. It's man's say-so that makes all of this okay. God is a third party, a lackey, my lackey....in fact. One also has to ask about the ethics of erasing the memory of this conversation. It's a bit like shredding the contract and then saying "but you signed a contract!".
meh 1/10- for effort.

Perhaps all three, albeit unintentionally.

Mormonism is exactly what I thought.

This little story is nonsense. Why would all the spirit beings (whatever they may be) want to go become meat beings on earth? And if no humans where on earth before the spirits arrived, how was earth evil? And if the spirits were good and moral in heaven, why are they so evil here?
I see you too see the story as nonsense. But, I see no real difference between this nonsense and mainstream Christian nonsense other than that more people have been taught mainstream Christian nonsense.
If there is a god, I want to believe that there is a god. If there is not a god, I want to believe that there is no god.
