My interactions with the religious after leaving religion has brought me to the conclusion that many Christians love to gossip the possibility of my eternal damnation and suffering. Like, nothing has changed since I left religion and became atheist except well...I am no longer mormon and no longer believe in god, other wise, it's just the same old Q1C that existed before the atheism. I woke up a couple weeks ago surprised thinking "wow, I have not broken any laws and neither do I indulge in reckless behavior but I have been atheist for 10 months! I thought I would have surely become immoral by now...since, you know, that's what everyone was telling me."

So tell me, am I going to hell just simply because of a changed philosophical schema?

and if so, provide empirical proof to your hell and the "god" that will send me there if I don't repent RIGHT NOW.

This is a serious request, I have not yet received the proof necessary, even after asking countless people.

I don't believe that hell is "eternal" torment, but I would assume you're going there simply because you are choosing to go there.  Either we decide that we believe in him and want to be with him or that we don't.  You have made the decision that you don't want to spend eternity with God.  It's pretty simple.

Beliefs aren't simple choices, Lek. You don't just flip a switch and suddenly believe in something or suddenly lack belief in something. Belief is a product of becoming convinced, not a "choice". It's pretty simple.

I'd take a limited amount of torture over an infinite amount of time with that bungwipe, if he's anything to do with the character in the bible. To me, infinite existence is one of the scariest things I can imagine, especially if it's spent toadying around a fascist dictator.

Right, I'm not "choosing" to disbelieve in god, nor am I choosing to not spend my afterlife with him. I'm failing to be convinced by any of it. Sure, I could pretend to believe, but why should I? I'm not choosing to not spend my afterlife with special green dragon lords either. I don't even believe there is any afterlife, so it's all rather moot.
