Dawkins sparks outrage for saying Down Syndrome babies should be aborted

CONTROVERSIAL scientist Richard Dawkins has sparked anger once again - this time by claiming foetuses with Down's syndrome should be aborted.

The outspoken athiest author said parents should abort unborn babies with the condition and "try again".

I love how all the religious jump to say he's a horrific man with no morals but I 100% guarantee that ANYONE who is told they have a down syndrome foetus on the way would absolutely consider abortion.

Sure it's not the nicest thing in the world to say, but let's be real, who really wants a down syndrome child? Some people may accept it and live with the child however it is born but given the opportunity I think most of us would choose to have a healthy child with no defects. That's not immoral.

Also, wtf is this article getting at? "Controversial scientist". What's he controversial for? Really?

I am lining up to get tests done to see if I carry any genetic markers that might indicate that any children I have will be susceptible to the same disease my brother died of (lennox gastaut syndrome). If I do I'd probably consider not having children. Not a nice disease to have, not nice at all. Constant pain, a short and miserable life. Wouldn't want to bestow that on anybody.

EDIT: see you already mentioned the controversial bit. Can only assume it's because he's written a couple of books on religion? I dunno.

Tbh the amount of times I see celebrities getting into trouble or spats on twitter just doesn't cease to amaze me, you'd of thought the intellectual people like Dawkins would know better than to post on that stupid site at all. There are FLDS sects who pray for Downs babies because they're docile and compliant and bring in more money via government assistance.



(Granted, these are severely inbred FLDS sects where Downs babies tend to be born more frequently, along with babies with physical deformities or other developmental problems)
