As a former Pentecostal church attendee, I'm going to give credit where credit is due: Pentecostal services are so ridiculously over-the-top and the church props up such obvious fakery, that it makes it very simple for doubt/skepticism take root.
I wonder how many former Pentecostals have eventually found themselves to be atheists, after witnessing the blatantly deceitful practice of speaking in tongues?

This thread certainly takes me back.
Anecdotal, but I 'run' the Freethought Society of the Midlands (FSM) in SC, and I am struck by how many people in the group were raised in a fundamentalist religion, particularly Pentecostalism.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

People need to stop clicking on the "Possibly Related Threads" down at the bottom of the page and responding without looking at the date. That seems to be the reason many of these old threads get dug up.

It wasn't me. I only responded this thread in New and Today's Posts.
Easy enough to see who necro-posted, but I don't want to call anybody out. I think some users go several months between visits to the forum and are probably just responding to old alerts and answering questions that were asked of them before they left.

Watching that video I have to wonder if they are dead serious in the "being filled with the holy spirit" bullcrap or are they simply fuckibg around and not taking themselves to seriously.
