I wonder how many former Pentecostals have eventually found themselves to be atheists, after witnessing the blatantly deceitful practice of speaking in tongues?
Watching that video I have to wonder if they are dead serious in the "being filled with the holy spirit" bullcrap or are they simply fuckibg around and not taking themselves to seriously.
It's delusional group-think, combined with a small insular sect of people who remove themselves from "worldly distractions" like TV, radio, the internet, newspapers, etc. The vast majority of the people shown actually BELIEVE the filled with the holy spirit bullcrap.
There are three types of participants there: The ones who are more experienced, or are overcome by emotion, start up the speaking in tongues, thrashing stuff. Then there are the ones who don't really feel anything, but think they'll fake it until they make it. And in the pews, not moving (but still clearly praying so the others won't think they're schlubs) are the fearful and the doubters: the ones who don't think it's making sense, the ones who feel nothing, the ones who know if they fake it, it will be obvious to everyone. So, sooner or later, when asked why they are never overcome, they tearfully admit that they "don't know what they are doing wrong". Everyone will pray over the poor soul who must still have the stain of unconfessed sin in their life.
