Well there were a few good ones in America, but Obama pretty much gave them a big "fuck you" when he played a round of golf the oil executives...fucking dick....change my ass.

Even if the climate isn't changing, we should stop pollution.
I don't understand how people just don't care about a shitfilled coastline (some actually swim in it), they keep littering even when there's a fucking trashcan next to them (and they keep breaking and kicking steel trashcans stuck to walls because it's "cool").

I think the issue with global warming is whether it is due to human environmental impact. I think hoaxers mean this. Global warming is clearly happening but is it because of us or is it a natural global climate cycle?

It's an interesting article, I have to be honest and say I'm not surprised although I am a little worried by the fact that not only is the sea rising, but the 'land is sinking', now I'm no expert on plate tectonics but surely that has nothing to do with climate change?

"I think I use the term “radical” rather loosely, just for emphasis. If you describe yourself as “atheist,” some people will say, “Don’t you mean ‘agnostic’?” I have to reply that I really do mean atheist, I really do not believe that there is a god; in fact, I am convinced that there is not a god (a subtle difference). I see not a shred of evidence to suggest that there is one ... etc., etc. It’s easier to say that I am a radical atheist, just to signal that I really mean it, have thought about it a great deal, and that it’s an opinion I hold seriously." - Douglas Adams (and I echo the sentiment)

It really underscores how insane the right wing has become in America. It's not enough that they've successfully blocked any government action to address this problem but they're actively trying to pollute the environment just for spite. These people have to breathe the same air we do but "making liberals mad" is more important to these people than anything else.

I'm watching the COSMOS series on Netflix now, and last night I watched the episode dealing with global warming and how our production of CO2 is affecting the climate. The climate always does change, and always will. But our activity looks like it is pushing it in a direction that could make life very difficult for us in the long run. Increasing CO2 concentrations are melting the permafrost in the near-arctic regions, which will release even more CO2 and methane, which in turn will accelerate warming even further.

We're not in danger of becoming Venus, but in a few decades to a century we may be facing more than just rising sea levels and adverse weather; we may be dealing with large-scale drought and facing staggering population losses. We may also be causing the extinction of numerous other species during this time.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

So by default you back the oil companies whom pollute? See this is the logic I do not follow. One why are Christians skeptical of GW, two who cares what the other sides are doing. It is happening it is moral thing to do to combat it. We impact the environment and we need to start taking responsibility for our actions.

The subsidence of coastal Louisiana has nothing to do with plate tectonics. It is entirely man made. There are two main causes. The first is anti flooding programs on the Mississippi River caused the river to drop its sediment load up river and prevented the river from carring much of it down river to be deposited in the Mississippi delta area. Sediments naturally erode, compact and subside once deposited. When the river was carrying its natural sediment load deposition balanced subsidence, erosion and compaction. Now the delta erodes and settles faster than it is being replenished.

The second is withdrawal of natural gas and oil from their reservoirs cause the overlaying ground to settle.

Being from Louisiana and working in the engineering industry. I can say that is basically spot on. Other issues with the delta too, is the fact it will make hurricane landfalls more severe. Evidence that YES man can damage the environment.
