I remember a country song about someone not coming back after lunch because he hasn't had a day off in over a year. You know, I can understand working your butt off for a few decades so you can retire with a nice nest egg, but you still need some weeks off a year. Plus holidays.

I worked at a factory recently. Twelve and a half hours a day, 5-6 days a week. I made mad money, had practically no time between work and sleep, but at least I got every Sunday off. I started temp for two months, and I guess I didn't do well enough, so they didn't call me back after I was let go.

It was eight dollars an hour, by the way.

Goodness forbid the privileged not add more millions and billions to their bank accounts, money that will never be used in their lifetimes but instead passed onto spoiled offspring, so that the rest of us can live comfortably.

I remember a guy worked at head office in San Diego - a civilised place, no, good weather etc - who said several times that he would die in harness, no retirement, so here was this middle-aged guy working 10/11 hours a day, 10 days vacation a year, and no pipe and slippers either, buying loads of useless crap, gotta be better than the guy next door, right?

Personally, not much we can do. However, if we had enough people saying the same thing it could spark a line of thought that could cause a social progressive movement. Occupy almost did, however the reason why it did not take off was the unexpected psychological counter attack by the our feudal lords. I think our only chance is to put aside the tiny differences and unite. I mean wanting a livable wage is good, but why do we need money in the socitial dividing state we have now?
