Of course not. And I shouldn't be able to, is my argument.
Right... but then you're left arguing trivialities with Brian, nothing more meaningful than a degree of semantic difference. I find his statement "God does not exist" indistinguishable from your statement "God exists independent of any physical substance."

I'm trying to get past that with Brian. I don't want to dwell on it believe me.

Move on to what?
You, "I believe in a god"
Me, "So what, lots of people make all sorts of god claims."
Get in line and take a number.

Froodo,
Your logic in coming to the conclusion that your god exist is flawed PERIOD.
Naked assertion <=made up logic<=desired outcome.
It is the same bad logic all people with ANY god claim make.
It would be no different if you simply swallowed a bullshit claim your boss made on payday "You take this envelope with the magic feather boa in it to the bank and deposit it, trust me you will get paid".
You overheard throughout the years even while not considering it claims of gods. You got interested in it as an adult because it appealed to you. But it is as stupid as accepting a Nigerian e-mail scam because of the claim in the e-mail promises you money."
The idea of an invisible sky hero appeals to you and you are stupidly falling for that appeal for no good reason.

Rinse > repeat
And what flawed logic would that be Brian? We've already established that non proof of the non provable doesn't really say anything. What else you got?

I don't get the rationale for the vitriol and name-calling.

You are simply incorrect.
There is not a single logical argument for the existence of a god that is without at least one fallacy.
The Cosmological Argument, Teleological Argument, Ontological Argument, TAG, have all been shown to be flawed, either in asserting the truth of premises, or validity of the arguments themselves.
Coupled with the lack of evidence, which you say should not even exist, and the only conclusion a critical thinker could come to is that there is no justification to believe.
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
