They aren't asking you to believe. You still retain the right to believe what you want. Going to church or bible study doesn't change your belief... it just exposes you to an alternate belief. If you have an open mind, that shouldn't be a problem.

I've had times where I've been so broke I've eaten out of garbage cans. Take the help. If they ask to baptize you is agree that's a bit much, bit they aren't. If they're offering you food, shelter, and all you have to do is sit through a sales pitch TAKE THEM UP ON IT. I've taken food from church donations, that's WHAT THEYRE THERE FOR. They claim to want to be charitable and help the poor. Call them on that.

I'm not a christian, but whenever I attend church with my wife, or whenever I attend a bible study, I never miss an opportunity to ask hard questions that frequently turn conversations upside-down. It can be fun

It is a pointless fight because it costs you more (food, shelter, possibly health) than it costs them (nothing).
