RE: I Really Hate The Concept Of Free Will

Would it surprise you that I never even got into the finer details of free will? I simply wasn't interested enough as a child to get to the point where this was even mentioned. Well, maybe it was mentioned, but I didn't care, since I believed in all kinds of stuff when I was little. Starting from fairies to ghosts. When I grew old enough to no longer believe in this crap, I through away the religious crap with it. It was less fun to begin with, since the emphasis of my religious teachings was hell and torture.
Now it seems to me as if free will is all about you having the freedom to pick your object of hate from a divine catalog.

Various goods like loving this man or this woman, who also love me?
If going to hell or not is completely up to me, I will decide not to when I die. If I tell Yahweh I've decided not to go to hell, or heaven, will I wind up in one of those places anyway? If so, I've gone there against my will.

The majority of Christians believe that hell is a place of eternal physical torture. A few believe that hell is a separation from god that leaves the victim depressed and sad forever. A smaller number of Christians believe that hell is metaphorical and doesn't exist at all.
Why would I voluntarily send myself to a place of eternal torture or somewhere that I am always depressed? That makes no sense. It is a cop out for Christians so that they can say that their deity is perfectly good despite the fact that torture for any length of time is evil.

Ah, yes.
Free will. My line of thinking growing up was quite taboo. I thought Satan was the good guy. haha.
In mormon theology it is asserted that Jesus's idea was free will while Satan's idea would be that everyone would have to do what he said and not have a choice, that way everyone would return to heaven with guarantee. But then God chose Jesus over Satan, then a war happened in Heaven, and 1/3 of heaven followed Satan and didnt have a chance to come to earth and have a body.
Once I was in middle school and dealt with shit peers, I wished that Satan had his way. That way no one would hurt me and I didn't have to hurt emotionally everytime I got in petty fist fights with my oppressors.
I never brought this up in church though. That'd be probably worse than coming out atheist...or gay in the mormon community.
GO SATAN!!! hahaha

Honestly I would expect the opposite. That free will was Satan's idea, because it allowed people to think for themselves, which was why he convinced Eve to eat the fruit. Yahweh didn't want them having free thought, so he wanted them to stay away from the tree of knowledge.
Giving people the ability to think freely doesn't really fit the character of someone who commands total obedience on pain of death or everlasting torture.

I don't want to go to hell, and I'm an atheist. Am I going, or not? Heaven and hell are states of being, not places. People seek out that in which they delight. What seems like hell to the blessed will appear heavenly to those who delight in things contrary to the Lord.

So we're all going to be fine either way. If only the mainstream christians thought that, instead of talking about the eternal burning type of hell.

So, your concept of hell is a place where the damned go to have fun? Are you saying that atheists will be partying in hell? Because I have heard most Christians describe hell as a place that no one wants to go, your version of hell is new to me. I want to be fair so I don't want to misunderstand what you are saying. Hell-according to you-will be a great place for those of us who don't believe in god? There won't be torture or misery? So, why do Christians work so hard to convert people? Just let the unsaved go to their version of heaven and you go to your version of heaven. It sounds like a win/win for everyone.
