So, Lot offered up his daughters for gangrape, that's in the story. Did god, or did god not, determine that Lot was the most moral man in the entire town, and the only one sufficiently moral to be spared death?

Are you often in the habit of proclaiming people who offer up family members as toys to be raped to be moral? Because, see, from an outside perspective, the notion that god did that kinda clashes with what you're saying here.

Well, don't forget the happy ending to the story when Lot fucked and impregnated both of his daughters. Poor man was coerced by the evil women of course.

If you were or are religious what were you taught, if anything, about the end of the world?

As a very little child, I had been taught that Jesus was a wonderful, kind person who loved everyone and helped the lame to walk. He held children on his lap and everything was flowers and birds singing.

When I was around eight, my family attended a fire and brimstone Baptist church. The pastor enthusiastically informed us all that when Christ came back there would be such a terrible war that the blood of the nonbelievers would come up to the horse's bridle. After the service, my mother waved away my alarm by assuring me that only bad people would die, thus justifing the type of us versus them mentality that I would find repeated over and over again in religion.

When I got older, I was told that there would be an antiChrist who would bring peace to the world but want to be worshiped. Anyone that accepted his mark-which would be used to buy food- would go to hell. Anyone who didn't accept his mark would go to heaven but would be starved and tortured, maybe their children would be starved and tortured.

Some Christians have different beliefs about the end times but I always found their glee over the end of the world troubling. Remember most of these people believed that a large portion of the world would in up in hell because they trusted someone who appeared good and got a mark that was required to feed their children.

So what were you all taught about the end of the world? If you grew up in a nonChristian house, have you heard religious people talk about Jesus' return?

Do you mean the destruction of the planet or the end of human life on it?

Just because we will be extinct one day does not mean the world will end for other species, if anything they will be a lot better off.

They will indeed. We may be the most intelligent species, but we are also the most stupid. If someone's gonna bring the world too a premature doom, it'll be us.

Especially if some religious maniac with an agenda for fulfilling Armageddon prophecies comes to power.

Religious people don't apologize a lot, or admit mistakes, I have noticed. They tend to pile more deceit and fallacies on top like a band-aid. Defence mechanism; I can't be wrong about this stuff.

God could fix all the problems right now, in an instant. But he doesn't. He chooses to drag it out through some bizarre theatre, and keep everyone guessing as to the performance date.

There was a time set when Adam and Eve sinned. God is not keeping us in waiting, Jesus gave us signs when the end would come and we're told that the generation in which it happens will know, Christians that is.

Yet, they're consistently shown to be wrong about knowing whatever their current generation is being the one. Not one claim that the End Times are near has proven true. Evidence points to Christians being the people LEAST likely to know.

People that wind up in hell do so for unforgiven sin, they choose to live with there sin.

It seems the procedure would be clear once in hell. Surely they'll beg for forgiveness then, when they know what the right religion is and understand the penalty for not seeking forgiveness?

Unforgiven sin last forever and that's why there's an eternal punishment.

Being unforgiven seems like a simple thing to fix.

God gives us the choice to live with Him forever or not to live with Him forever, in eternity there are only two places to live.

That's what the people who say they're following this God they claim exists say, but God doesn't give us the choice himself. I suppose it would be fair to give a last chance before judgement to appeal to his supposed mercy, but your postiion is we're thrown in hell without reprieve for picking what's behind door A instead of door 3. Oh, you picked hell, too bad. It wouldn't have done any good to listen to the studio audience, you're in Jordan and they're Muslims, they're going to hell, too.

One for those who sought forgiveness through Christ will be in heaven and, one for those who do not seek forgiveness, those who believe they are already righteous in their own minds. Jesus warned those who thought that way.

You mean Christians? Because I really can't think of anyone who believes they're righteous in their own minds while posting more to turn people away from Christianity than I could if I wanted to more than you and Drich. There are kinder versions of Christianity available, but I think they don't suit your temperment.
