Becoming an angry atheist

Just to be clear every human being should be the beneficiary of our charity by virtue of their being human. Regardless of whether people are Negro, Caucasian or Asian, they are all existentially and essentially equal. At the same time it is entirely rational to recognize that not all beliefs and behaviors are equally praiseworthy. Thus it is not wrong to hate beliefs, like anti-Semitism, or perverted behaviors, like wanton gluttony. Skin-heads are a minority group and I have no problem putting them down.

It's hard not to slip into the angry atheist mindset, especially around the holidays when Christianity tries to assert its dominance over all other beliefs. As an American, you have to filter out the religious insults lest you go insane, but it helps to remind yourself that the overwhelming majority of the people responsible for the attack you feel have poorly constructed viewpoints that they never challenge. The affront you feel to your sensibilities then becomes water on a duck's back.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

Where I live it's rather an all out commercial attack than a religious one. But people usually don't tell you what they believe, let alone what you should believe. I would even be hard pressed to tell if any of my work collegues has any religious affiliation.

The prime mover is just the first way. Showing that it is intelligent falls within the 5th way.
The 5th way? Let's see....

We see that natural bodies work toward some goal, and do not do so by chance."

BZZZZT. First point was wrong right off the bat.

That's hardly comparable to being discriminated against because of color. There's a world of difference between "You cannot join our church because you haven't yet repented" and "you can't join our church because you're black."

So, you don't support freedom of conscience, then? You think that in order to be an "proper American" -- as the OP put it -- one cannot be an atheist. And he said that the outrage that would happen if such dismissiveness were race-based would be deafening, but that an atheist practicing a core principle of American liberty is considered by some thoughtless politicians as "less American".

Because that is what he wrote, not this dissimulative bullshit you're trying to pass off as his words. Perhaps you should read for content?

Equal treatment under the law is an unconditional right in the Constitution. A politician asserting that atheists shouldn't be considered Americans is, well, unAmerican.

If that were true, then you'd recognize the validity of the Aquinas's 5 ways, which have never been fully refuted.

lmao, my Franciscan Phi101 professor demolished them, in class. You'd best get a better leg than that, before you commence mentally crawling.

Your response only shows that you have not studied the argument before presenting a strawman of it. The fifth way is not a design argument as modernly understood. Common experience shows that efficient causes are directed towards specific sets of results and not just any random effects.

Do what I did upon coming out atheist about 11 months and 7 days ago:

1) Post a bunch of anti-religion stuff on your wall.
2) Publicly attack theistic posts on other people's wall.
3) If they threaten to block/delete you, do it for them.
4) 6 months later apologize but insist that you still hate their stupid, fucking, dumb ass, piece of shit religion.

'Tis the way of this particular angry atheist.

Now, I can get pretty pissed off, but I'm increasingly more apathetic, directly in consequence of these couple facts:

1) They're all delusional and the ones that aren't are culturally inclined to stay with their delusional peers because being a lonely atheist/agnostic is too much to handle emotionally. And believe...a lot are like that. Sell outs, sell outs everywhere.
2) Know that their argument is failing. More and more people are leaving religion and people posting "I Love God" shit all over could tomorrow...be atheist. I was one of those people trying to make things work and look all holy on social media. Needless to say, my atheism was a shocker to everyone.
3) They may have God, but you have science. Use that shit, study that shit, and in the end know that the religious are eating their own shit.

Live and let live. If you find yourself on the verge of insanity due to those jesus-freaks...send me a message. We can talk shit together. Just don't let them take your happiness away.

Best wishes,

Why do so many of you fall into the trap of viewing the word "God" as something only christians or muslims or theists own? It's not their word and their word only. What is your God? What do you worship? Why attack people who love and find comfort in believing in something like the Easter bunny? It's childish. If a 26 year old man wants to believe in the Easter bunny why can't he? Why are you so judgmental and angry? What will you do next? Murder a christian in cold blood because he had a different view to you? People like you are ticking time bombs. You're dangerous. Check your thoughts, don't fall into darkness and become the very monsters you despise. I will not be surprised if christians and atheists someday are at war with eachother and there are guns and bombs involved, if not armies. I'm being serious, this shit will spiral out of control if you allow yourself to be a slave to anger and hatred. Here's a thought, next time you see a christian in public, instead of going upto him for a debate, try ignoring him and instead go to starbucks for a coffee? I dunno man, maybe you enjoy hurting others. A bit like Jesus, he was an asshole.

When did I ever assert that the term "God" was exclusive to Christianity? I simply took the OP into context, knowing it takes place out of Oklahoma, and replied likewise. Unless the OP has only non-christian friends, culturally I would not know that.

Second, did you not read the second half of my post? I am increasingly apathetic.

You, sir, are arguing against something that simply does not exists.

I think you have assumed so many things before asking the appropriate questions. My goodness, that certainly escalated quickly.

Alright, I need to calm myself down now hahaha. So you're a good guy? I need to sleep been on the computer too much. You're right though I need to pay more attention to people and their own intelligent views! Sorry man.
