That's not the same thing. A blind person's cane is for intents and purposes a part of their body. You wouldn't tell a wheelchair user they can't use their chair because they ran down someone in the hallway. You do not risk the safety of a child because they're being unruly. A cane is the sight you don't have, and taking is sick.

Basically a blind child did what every child with a stick does. He hit somebody. Ooo scary! A six year hit another six year! That doesn't mean you take away a medically necessary instrument and give him a ducking pool noodle. Luckily the child wasn't hurt.

I'm not sure why you think one school district represents a nation of 315 million. Care to elaborate?

Dakota headed out with his family Tuesday night to his sister's concert with nothing but a pool noodle to guide him around.

Whiskey tango...a quick search found canes for under 15 bucks, and free cane programs for people who can't come up with that. If the only cane this kid has is one provided by the school, I'd say the parents are neglecting him.

I am a little suspicious that he doesn't have a personal stick. I mean is there some regulation regarding canes for blind people? You can't afford to buy a broom and saw/screw the head off?

Perhaps the non-school issued stick did not have the proper warning labels?
