If Only The Romans

Matt 10:28 "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."

Special newsflash for you, since you're catholic. Here's pope Francis on the matter:

Quote: Through humility, soul searching, and prayerful contemplation we have gained a new understanding of certain dogmas. The church no longer believes in a literal hell where people suffer. This doctrine is incompatible with the infinite love of God. God is not a judge but a friend and a lover of humanity. God seeks not to condemn but only to embrace. Like the fable of Adam and Eve, we see hell as a literary device. Hell is merely a metaphor for the isolated soul, which like all souls ultimately will be united in love with God

And this is for Lek.

No matter how often you repeat it, in light of the trinity, Jesus didn't die at all, since he is part of god and god is indistructable by nature.

True, the last verse claims that Jesus healed the daughter. If Jesus was such a kind, generous, loving man, why did he refuse to help until the Canaanite woman prostrated herself before him and accepted the lowly comparison he made of her to a dog? That sure doesn't seem too kindly of the only person ever claimed to have been born and lived without sin.

Such a question doesn't deserve the dignity of a serious answer.

"Quickly by the sword"! As if genocide is a mercy. Really.

One more bit of evidence demonstrating how Christianity perverts human morality.

You missed the point of my question. Critics of the christian God like to point to the slaughter of the Amalekites and the great flood to show how terrible God is. God has already ordained that we all die, often in infancy or youth, and in terrible ways. Why was he any worse for how he caused the Amalekites to die or those who died in the great flood for that matter? If you want to point out how bloodthirsty he is, you may as well just refer to what he does to us all.

This is an internet hoax.

Jesus, the man, died.

Yeah. I'm also a bit disturbed by his apparent attitude in this story. It seems out of character; maybe he was having a bad day, but it does reinforce my belief that the scriptures are true. If someone was trying to make a fictional Jesus appear perfectly kindly, he wouldn't have portrayed him in this way. This story makes him appear more human.

Yeah, he helped her eventually, after she begged and pleaded enough for his liking. Does that seem like the actions of a loving being?

Quote: He also died to save her as well as to save the Jews.

And this is just an assertion, that's actually at odds with what the man is literally quoted as saying. Jesus said he had been sent as the salvation of the tribe of Israel, and nobody else; that's literally the words attributed to him in the bible. You aren't going to be able to escape that by mere assertion.

Quote:Are you saying that Jesus didn't plan to save Gentiles? If not, I guess I'm not saved.

I'm saying that bible Jesus literally said he didn't plan to save the gentiles. That's not me, it's your messiah; I'm just reminding you of things he said that you find more convenient to ignore.

What do you think he means in the following verses?

John 10:14-16 (NKJV)
14 I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. 15 As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. 16 And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd.

The "other sheep refers to the Gentiles.

Jesus was sent to preach to the Jews. That's what he meant went he spoke to the Canaanite woman. The fact that he sacrificed for all is made evident by the many references to that throughout the new testament in the writings from those who walked with him. In fact, the quote which you referenced was written by Matthew as a witness to Jesus, not by Jesus himself. Why should written[/quote] quotes from Jesus count any more than other written doctrinal statements by witnesses?
