It's real simple.

Can you really burden the responsibility to give such specific advice how people avoid going to Hell? I mean, are you really sure that you're not missing some technical detail and sending droves to eternal damnation?

I thought we already established this. Drich has the interpretation of the Bible and can deem self-identified Christians as really Christian or not really Christian.

I'm just sayin', with great power comes great responsibility...

Oi-vey...

The word for scripture in the greek simply means writtings. The OT did not contain the writtings about Christ, salvation/The Gospel Paul is referencing. Therefore he is referencing the letters he himself has written. Those same letters became biblical cannon hence the term 'scripture' in the english.

Quote:Way to completely miss the point! Thumb up Paul's letters were canonized long after his death, therefore he could not possibly reference the 'canon of scripture.'

Quote:As to your claim that Paul was talking about his own writings - there is not enough facepalm in the world. No Jew (and Paul was nothing if not a good Jew) in 1st-century Palestine would have referred to Holy Scripture and meant anything other than the Hebrew Ketuvim. Your ignorance is appalling.

Oh, and learn to spell "oy." Tut Tut Nu, nu, nu.

Someone should have told Paul that because He references "The letter he had written with his own Hand" in Galations 6.

You seem to be confusing two different verses. In Galations (What we are actually talking about) the letter written was identified by the greek word γράφω, Transliteration:graphō
http://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexi...1125&t=KJV

http://www.blueletterbible.org/Bible.cfm...nc_1097011

In 2Tim 3:16 the word is Paul uses the word γραφή: Transliteration graphē It means anything written. (It can also mean the Holy Writtings or what your identifying as OT scripture.)
http://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexi...1124&t=KJV

http://www.blueletterbible.org/Bible.cfm...nc_1128016

So again we know them as Holy scripture, but to Paul and those he was writting to they are simply known as scripture. Paul, referenced His own writtings and directions when concerning the church.

I know Homer Could not read the OP, but I would think if you were going to comment in a given thread you would at least read the opening post so as not to appear ignorant of the subject being discussed.

I feel Drich has done a very good job of defining the central issue, atonement. Yet I also believe that true Christian religion includes a couple more essential doctrines:

Jesus Christ is fully God, not a created being.
Jesus Christ was uniquely qualified to be the Savior.
People must repent before they can receive saving Grace.

I believe those things as well, (because the bible makes mention/confirms those things) but I kinda lumped that in the "Canonical Christ centered Religious effort.

It's real simple.

All canonical Jesus Christ centered religions are good.

Why?

Attonement.

The same attonement that is offered to us when we willfully sin is also offered when we are trying to love God with all of our heart, mind, spirit, and strength.

So this beggs the question who is right? Which version of Christianity is correct? None are. The thing is.. We don't have to be.

So what's the trick? One must have the attonement offered by Christ. According to Paul to his letter to the Galations, this 'gospel' is the canonical/biblical Gospel. All other 'new gospels' are false.

Therefore the only ones that fall under the Christian 'freedom of religion' are those who know and follow the Jesus/gospel found in the canonical scriptures.

What kind of atonement will you perform for wishing cancer upon nonbelievers? And do you think your god will forgive the meanspirited manner you've exhibited as one of his representatives here?

[emphasis added -- Parks]

Thankfully from Drich's point of view, he doesn't labor under this handicap.
