The trick is buying a suit. It fools most people. And by that I mean that some people wearing pajamas think more deeply than others running around in armani suits Big Grin

Actually, the trick is correctly using the word 'data'. It's the scientist shibboleth. All you need to do is to find a reason to say something like, "The data are conclusive" and you're in. This was difficult for me, going from being a database architect to a science student - in computer culture, 'data' is a collective noun, and the only correct use is 'The data is corrupted' - using it the other way marks you as a snob.

It also helps a lot if you can talk about p values and use 'significant' in the statistical sense. Standard joke - I have no significant (p<.05) other.
