Illinois bible colleges: "We shouldn't have to follow state standards because bible!"

Illinois bible colleges: "We shouldn't have to follow state standards because bible!"
So, some bible colleges in Illinois are suing the state, arguing that they should be exempt from the usual accreditation standards because they're a religious institution and any form of regulation violates their right to freedom of religion. Funny, I didn't realize a big part of practicing the christian religion was just handing out degrees left and right, for no reason.

They argue that they can't "stay competitive" if they can't offer degrees, which right now necessitate a proper curriculum to be given out, but the truth is that they want to stay competitive without having to expend the effort of competing; as seems to be the usual for religious institutions, they want to use the bible as an excuse to do none of the work, but obtain all of the benefits.

I thought god would provide huh? Instead god seems to do a lot of second hand whining.

Does anyone doubt here for even one second that these so called 'bible colleges' could not survive even the gentlest, easiest tests of biblical fidelity ??

Sounds like they want standards to be lowered so that they can compete.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Not that there was much doubt, but it's nice to see these Bible diploma mills implicitly acknowledge that their 'degrees' aren't worth the toilet paper on which they're printed.

If they can't meet the standard for a degree then they don't meet that standard. And, IIRC, that sort of thing is based on a program by program basis. You can't certify someone to practice law, medicine, or some other field if they don't have the necessary skills.

Now of they want to offer a degree in theology or biblical studies, I can't comment on that. Those degrees are worthless anyway.

Fine, if they want to be a fake college let them print fake degrees. I don't want to hear any bitching about "staying competitive", it's their decision. They could just fold up, of course.

Why sue? Just pray for special privileges. It'll work, right?
