There's a difference between "surprise" and "objection". Maybe one day, you'll learn it.

Simply because something has been the standard in times past is no justification for its continuance, nor a reason to silence its critics. Repurposing social standards is something you Christians should be comfortable with ... after all, it's why you scheduled Christmas on Saturnalia.

Marriage used to be the legal recognition of the joining of two families, or the formal acceptance of a war trophy, or one way to pay a debt -- according to the Bible. Christians have repurposed marriage -- so why then do they get irritated when others call upon them to repurpose marriage in order to not be bigoted? Food for thought, right there. Didn't catch the part where I specified America?

Please point out where I stated the location in which marriage licenses were invented.

Are you saying Marriage licenses weren't discriminatory in the middle ages?

The discriminatory history of marriage licensure is, in the United States, yet another Christian crime against humanity. Huggy is only trying to raise awareness of the hateful and spiteful nature of his religion. We should thank him.

Thanks very much. I thought the spitefulometer would stop at 100/100 but he just pushed it to 102/100.

You just cherry-picked your own post. Here's what you actually said.

Marriage has always been a private contract between families. Not until the middle ages did the government start to regulate marriage (e.g. seeking permission to marry from your liege lord). Marriage licenses as a requirement was instituted in America to prevent miscegenation (interracial marriages), the whole concept of the marriage license is based on discrimination.

There are plenty of jurisdiction where simple cohabitation is enough evidence for marriage (common-law marriage).

And your point is?

You do realize I would of been the target of the discrimination right?

Why would I have come to that conclusion when you count yourself an adherent of the discriminating belief system?
