I don't think I would class the difference between killing people and not killing people 'a matter of degree'.

Some time back there was this kid who got into a lot of trouble for faking BJ on a jeebus statue. That kid didn't actually vandalise anything, this woman did. If she gets away with an argument like this, then the entire justice system should be sued. On the other hand if she does get away with this, then that would mean all of the muslim extremists can burn as many churches as they want...'cause faith.

There isn't a difference if you follow Yahweh's moral code, but most sensible people can see the difference between vandalism and murder.

I support her right to believe whatever the fuck she wants, but religious liberty stops at action. She can believe anything she damn well wants, but she is not allowed to practice any way she wants. You are not allowed to harm anyone or anything and claim it's part of your religious liberty.
I'd like to make the case for allowing her to commit 'actions' against backsliders, apostates, pedos, anti-Literalists, blasphemers, pew warmers, heretics, and anti-Inerrantcists in her own congregation, however.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

I'm not suggesting she be punished the same as someone committing murder. Certainly, the punishment should fit the crime. But if she uses a religion-based defense, shouldn't that be held as credible as the excuse used by those murderers in Paris?

Right. As fun as it would be to see on the evening news, I doubt thousands will hit the streets with signs and t-shirts that say "Je Suis Satan".

I don't care what your position on christianity is. Who are you? You're just person number eight million with an opinion on true christianity, but that doesn't mean anything. Why should I privilege yours over anyone else's? Over the opinion of the person we're talking about? There are christians in this subforum right now arguing both the action-based position you have, and a faith based alternative where actions don't enter into things at all; how do either side intend to demonstrate that their views match the actual intent of the god you claim is behind the religion? Don't use bible verses, though: Mr. Faith-Alone-Is-Salvation in the other thread has his own set, since the bible is such a very mutable book. You think I'm just making things up as I go along? I'm not giving you opinions I'm telling you exactly what the Bible says, which is not open for interpretation, it means exactly what it says.
Lets use Joyce Meyer as an example, she claims to be a christian.
Did you know the bible is against women cutting their hair.
Quote:1 Corinthians 11:6
For if a woman does not cover her head, she might as well have her hair cut off; but if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should cover her head.
Did you know that the Bible is against women wearing men's clothing (pants)
Quote:Deuteronomy 22:5
A woman must not wear men's clothing, nor a man wear women's clothing, for the LORD your God detests anyone who does this.
And before someone point out that "they make women's pants", you should know that when women started wearing pants, it was scandalous, It wasn't the bible that's changed, but us that's changed. If a man/woman walked around in their underwear back in the day, they would be thrown in a mental institution, but all of the sudden, it's normal at the beach.
Now, skirts are starting to be marketed towards men.
Women wear pants. Let Men wear skirts.
Got Vin Desiel twirling in a skirt smh.
Also the bible is against women preachers.
Quote:1 Timothy 2:11
A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner.
That's three strikes against Joyce, proving that she is in error, and if she be in error, what about her congregation? What does the Bible say about the blind leading the blind?
God will not judge you according to what your denomination says, he'll judge you based on what his word says. The reason these denominational churches won't teach the truth is because it's not popular, popularity = Money. Didn't Jesus start out with like 7000 disciples, but when he started to preach they all abandoned him save the 12?

Really? so you've never asked anyone to provide any evidence for their belief? You've never attempted to debate Biblical scriptures with someone that knows more about the Bible than you?

Someone who believes in the christian religion but doesn't execute on that consistently would be bad at being a christian, not not a christian at all. The world's worst soccer player is still a soccer player, he doesn't suddenly become not a soccer player just because he doesn't match up to some random guy's arbitrary and vaguely defined required level of skill to be a "true soccer player."
Quote:1 John 3:9
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
Doesn't sound arbitrary to me....

The bible said people who are born in him doesn't sin? But everyone sins. So there must not be any true christians.
It is impossible to live in civilized society while still obeying the bible. They'd lock you up, or have you executed. That's not because we're such sinful people. It's because most good people don't own other Human beings, rape virgins, or commit mass murder in their lifetimes.
