I never quite got what he message of that M&W skit was. I guess it doesn't have one.

I don't think it has one either, it's funny though.
Watchamadood: Fecal transplants? No I havent heard of those. What are they? I have an amazing specialist and I'm sure he has me on the best treatment. The area is too small to operate on at present, but severe enough to actually kill me if Im not careful what I eat.

a fecal transplant is when they take the poop of a healthy person with lots of good bacteria and put it in your butt.

In all seriousness, it is supposed to help balance out the microbes in your intestines. If you have chrones this might help, I know my ex-husband got a huge benefit from adding pro-biotics. It also helps with obesity.

Hmm. Weird my specialist hasn't mentioned it, maybe it's not for my case. I'm so lucky, when I moved recently I got the best specialist ever, he instantly diagnosed my stricture that had been baffling my other specialists for years and causing me considerable suffering.

"I think I use the term “radical” rather loosely, just for emphasis. If you describe yourself as “atheist,” some people will say, “Don’t you mean ‘agnostic’?” I have to reply that I really do mean atheist, I really do not believe that there is a god; in fact, I am convinced that there is not a god (a subtle difference). I see not a shred of evidence to suggest that there is one ... etc., etc. It’s easier to say that I am a radical atheist, just to signal that I really mean it, have thought about it a great deal, and that it’s an opinion I hold seriously." - Douglas Adams (and I echo the sentiment)

It might be that fecal transplants are not yet approved in the UK. I'm not sure if they are approved in the US yet either. The articles I've read were about experimental treatments, but the results were amazing. The researchers refine the feces into caplets. The patient takes 10 or so caplets and is well in a few days with no further treatments.
I saw an article claiming that sexual attraction is driven by our intestinal bacteria too. I will try to locate that and post it for Valentine's Day... so romantic.

It seems partly to point out that neither side has a slam-dunk argument, and that the moral high ground is a bit relative, and applied asymmetrically.
Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.

Not very convincing, though. It's so superficial that it would only work as a satire on these arguments for me (like equating animals and vegetables)
