As far as I know there is no rule against it and very little chance of being banned for it.

I mean... I'll take rep, in whatever form. Sexual favors; kudos; actual rep points. Bring 'em.
But seriously, IMO this is a better forum for the fact that we can't neg rep, and that we can only rep once. I think it keeps us heathens honest :p

I'd be okay with the idea of weighted neg rep. Like 10 negs count the same as one positive rep. You could be +4 with 5 positives and 10 negatives.

We used to have a neg-rep ability, but it led to some pretty vicious flaming in the rep system. What's the point of that, apart from making unnecessary work for Staff? You could always not rep someone if they don't deserve your commendation. Worst case scenario, you always have the option to delete the rep you gave previously, and I did not just say that m'kay?
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

Funny - I made a similar point about the kudos system quite some time ago (can't be arsed to look for the post) and was excoriated for my trouble.
