This is my "give-a-shit" face:

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Bullshit from the Christers aside, and addressing the OP:

A few years ago, I went to midnight mass for Christmas with my family. I usually love going to church on Christmas because it's so pretty and lit up and full of poinsettias... and the music- I used to sing Ave Maria every year (fun ego booster). So, I'm sitting there IN CHURCH WITH MY FAMILY ON CHRISTMAS, when the pastor starts ranting about how evil atheists are and how they hate god and Jesus, blah blah blah. I could just feel my face getting redder and redder. I held my tongue through the entire service, but at the end, when the pastor was standing in the doorway, shaking babies and kissing hands, I couldn't help myself. I whispered, only to the pastor, "I wonder how it feels knowing an evil atheist is in your midst right this second," shook his hand, and enjoyed his stutter and red face as he greeted the rest of my family.

How does that happen? Can you explain that process?

The more you show the foolishness you are eaten up with, the more the priest becomes correct.

You really should quit, before you dig an escape proof hole. It is an interest, if it wasn't you would not be defending it. According to you religion is foolish and so is evolution, seems everything is fitted into a neat little package.

The priest can only be correct or incorrect. There is no such thing as 'more correct'.

Eating knives is also 'foolish', but it's not a religion.

You're right. I really should quit. I know you'll take this as my capitulation, but I really planned on sleeping tonight and you're really messing with my head.

I just pointed out that you weren't. In one post you said evolution deals with death, in the next that it deals with nothing. How is it consistent?

After being on this forum you should have thought about the responses to Christians here and thought, fair enough and let well enough alone, don't you think. It wasn't the fault of the priest an atheist found the way to a Christian service that has especially deep meaning to us. Do you really think he expected one to show up, obviously not. When you travel into the enemy camp you should expect such things to happen, Christians here do.

RE: A personal story...
Actually, I wouldn't expect people to lambast someone for believing in something different to them without any provocation. Neither would I expect to hear people being called evil for simply believing something different to them either.

Are you guys really so insecure that you're actually affected by people calling your beliefs bullshit? Or indeed for simply not believing in the same thing as you do?

You derive 'deep meaning' from some guy standing in front of people saying 'these others, these people who don't believe in our God. They're evil I tells ya! Evil!"

How is that spreading a message of peace and love?

Ah never mind. I'm sure jesus is proud.

There you go with those foolish statements again, try to catch up, please.

You did ask a knife swallower before making such a irresponsible statement didn't you, oooh no another foolish thing.

For an evolutionist, "death leads to nothingness" and that's a quote from many here. Got two birds with one stone here, I'd been awesome in the day.Big Grin
