You have had a gut full of Catholicism?
So did I.
The devil created the Catholic (means - universal) "Church" as a sly way of subverting actual Christianity.
Real Christians were persecuted by the unholy Roman juggernaut and would be killing us today if they could get away with it.
Congratulations for pegging it as it is, however, there are people in there who actually trust Christ rather than all the hocus pocus and lies (had to say this about them).

My family was Southern Baptist but kids received the same type of scare tactics in Baptist churches. When I was in the third grade our pastor preached a frightening sermon about Revelations. He assured us that the blood of the wicked would reach the bridle of the horse Jesus rode.Up until that time I had only been taught about sweet and gentle Jesus. When I tried to tell my mom how much this frightened me she told me not to worry because only the bad people would be destroyed. For years I worried about people going to hell

The thing is that most Christians believe with all their heart that they are doing the right thing, so of course they would sleep Ok, the sane with the priests, pastors and bishops, they also believe they are doing the right thing.

That's an interesting claim. What do you base that on? Why do you say catholicism different from other denominations of Christianity?

While I did mainly have catholicism in mind while writing the OP, it's true for other denominations of Christianity as well. The whole concept of Jesus dying for your sins is a guilt trip.

Jesus appears to be very creepily inconsistent in his policies. One moment he's a turn-the-other-cheek hippie, the next he's riding in the blood of his enemies. A bit schizophrenic, if you ask me.

The claim by modern, US based Evangelicals, follow 'actual' Christianity, is laughable and ignorant.
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
