Quote:Soz, Min but with that rant based on hatred you just lost the discussion, at least in my eyes.

Doesn't change the fact that the gospels were, are and always will be bullshit. [/u]

Yes, I think you have Min there. He can indeed be quite hostile, as indeed can be my good self.

However, being essentially reasonable people ,we only behave like arseholes towards the truly deserving. Right now, Ratty* is at the top of my list of the deserving.

As for referring to the Gospels as 'bullshit'. Perhaps a little vulgar, but I think an honest opinion. When I think about it, an entirely reasonable attitude when referring to mythology masquerading as history.

Sorry, was actually agreeing with Minimalists' post. I've done some homework since first crassly stepping in here, and can sympathise. Saw a list of '50things to say to piss an atheist off', and I know I've said a few on it. Not intentional, merely my ignorance. Just a little too much swearing, Minimalist. That's all.

Just look at how hard the media is trying to attack the Pope, and how much every one of his visits anywhere is a giant event. He holds more power than most presidents, and what would be more fitting for the heir of Peter ?

I'm pretty sure Miley Cyrus can draw a larger crowd, have people pay for it, and not need a bulletproof enclosing to wave at people.

Just saying.

Not true at all. The same christian public that lobbies for the abolition of gay marriage and abortion laws is the majority in this country. The same public that makes their traditions sacred, but can condemn others to hell because they don't share the same belief, all under the guise of being a good and moral Christian. Christianity isn't about peace - it never was. It's about control, and more often than not, profit. Actions speak louder than doctrine.

But our holy books were put together from the writings of the prophets by holy men who wanted everyone to receive and understand the Lord's message. There is no intention to control.

Receive the Lord's message - by means of such vague wording that there are 30,000 denominations within Christianity alone. The intention to control was there from the beginning.

'Muslims'?, That's a bit sweeping, don't you think? The problem is with fundamentalist extremists, of any persuasion.
30 000 denominations. Wow, that gives a pause for thought. Christians...get your s*** together...that just looks careless to the casual observer.
The message I get from Christ is not about control, it's about Love, compassion, understanding etc. Christianity, administered by men...? Agree with Tavarish. Was 1000000 at Woodstock..Love peace and understanding. Chaos confusion and disorder. A disaster area if I remember rightly. Profit?? What's that?
