I'm a southern Baptist preacher's kid, I know their drill. No, I won't allow her to go to church with them in the same way I won't allow the North Koreans to waterboard her. You can babysit my kid, and take him to church, while I babysit your kid, and listen to Steve Shives talk about christian books from an atheist perspective. Fair? Or how about we let our kids worry more about basic social and educational skills for now, and not worry abut the religious stuff until they're adults. If you worry about your ability to convert them when they're independent of you, then you need to reevaluate your ideas. something that can't easily be believed by an educated adult is probably not worth teaching.

No respect for other peoples kids, now if I had children and they were older and one of them had a curious friend about atheism, that would be a case of sharing some of the basic fundamentals about atheism. Talking briefly and sending a child a home with a book is two separate things, I would never send some one child with a book about atheism. But, nothing wrong with sharing some basic info and letting older child find out him or herself about it. Right?

If you had a 6 year old daughter and she was told by her friend's atheist parents that there is no God and she decided, at 6 years old, that she no longer wanted to go to church, would you honor that wish? Or would you decide that 6 years old is too young for a child to be proselytized to by anyone without that child's parent's permission?
