If there was anything christians had, other than unsupported faith, we wouldn't be having these discussions. There wouldn't be jews, muslims, atheists, hindus, or anything. There would just be those that worship Jesus, and those that choose not to.

Yes 90% of the time when parents are 'protecting their children' they are being douche bags, and they turn their kids into little d-bags too.
Brakeman want to raise a fuss over what amounts to an easter egg hunt, in the name of 'protecting his kids.' That old sport is being a douche bag of the highest caliber
Quote:What you fail to realize in your ever-present simplicity is that this about one set of parents overstepping their bounds with someone else's child.
grow up, take the chip off your shoulder and the stick out of your butt. it's an easter egg hunt.
Quote:I know your feeble brain can't understand that religions are just about beliefs, because you clearly have no problem with people manipulating other people's children to push yours. Religious beliefs are not something a six year-old's mind can fully comprehend, and signing someone else's child's name to a religious commitment in a religious book without parental consent is so morally reprehensible that it borders on criminal.
What is their to comperhend. The easter bunny hides eggs and prizes and the kids look for them.. Maybe in the end for 10 mins someone talks about jesus. what do you really think the kids takeaway from that event is going to be?
Don't be a overprotective douche. it an EASTER EGG HUNT!
Quote:What's really disgusting, though, is that it's not enough for you to embarrass yourself with your complete failure to comprehend situations and see the true picture. It's that you do it with this pious, self-righteous dickhead routine.
I'm a pious self righteous person because i dont see a big deal in an easter egg hunt?

In things like your mis use of a word, but nazi like attention to it's spelling makes me want to shake you people. I don't rag on you for not using words correctly anywhere to the degree I have been chastized for spelling them incorrectly.
I am in this case and like with brake man point back to the planks hanging out of your own eye. Believe in Jesus or not maybe you should take the plank out of your own eye before digging at the speck in mine.

The fact that you're now trying to backtrack with talk of Easter egg hunts proves that any words put forth to you are just wasted breath.

IDK who took prayer out of school? Who took our rights to celibrate Holy-Days in our schools? Who demanded that the tradition started at the founding of capitol building of using it for Christian worship be stopped?
So, TW, here's the thing about our great country:
Prayer was RIGHTFULLY taken out of school. Ever heard of the term Separation of Church and State? Perhaps it's time you started reading up on the US Constitution and the First Amendment. Idiot.
If you want your kids to pray in school, send them to a private school where you can pay for that shit. That crap doesn't belong in a public school. In THIS country, no one has a right to force anyone else to pray to a god they don't believe in or worship. If you have a problem with that and you think I'm wrong, then I guess you wouldn't mind if your child was forced to recite an Islamic prayer during the morning announcements eh?
If you want your kids to celebrate christian based holidays and have them close school for it, again, send them to a private school where you can pay for that right. I'll not have you force your magical bullshit religion on my kids, especially in a PUBLIC SCHOOL.
As far as stopping christian worship at the US Capital building... again, First Amendment rights stopped that and the Separation of Church and State. Despite what you might think, this country was NOT built on xian principles. I know it's a hard thing to accept, but try to.

Because what you really wanted wasn't some fair minded discussion, you wanted to manipulate our free thinking sensibilities into making us give christianity the same free pass that you do. Because obviously we should just surrender all our knowledge of parenting and let our kids do whatever they want, wherever that means they follow the path you want them to, random internet apologist for slavery and genocide.
I'm really beginning to respect you lax.. You seem to genuinly be one of the smart ones. Most try,and mimic what smart people do (spelling grammer ect) but the content unless coppied is always lacking. With you I can see the hamster spinning in the wheel house and generally 'know' that who and what you are is genuine.
That said..
That quote is quite possibly the dumbest thing I've ever read.
How do you think Christian parents feel when the things we teach and try to assign value to ethecially is crapped on by soceity, the goverment and by the culture? How is what Brakeman is experiencing any different than the assult on our core beliefs in every other aspect of life? How is the senerio of your kid challenging you any different that the atmosphere western soceity has created to have our children challenge us?
Ex: We tell our kids Homosexuality is wrong, and in every avenue of media, school, friends, and every other non-Christian source is telling them not only is it ok it's what 'trending.' That if the want to get the girl, their going to have to go through a bunch of boys.. This list does not stop here, it goes on and on andon for the Christian. and the first time one of you gets challenged with an easter egg hunt you loose your minds!
Quote:Tell you what, Drich: how about I recruit a bunch of other religious preachers and a host of atheists and we come tell your kids the good news, and every kid at your church too? You wouldn't object, would you? After all, it's all their own choice... or is that only true when it's a choice you agree with?
What do you think it is I do here? Have you ever seen the movie Maveric with Mel gibson in the title role?
One of the first poker games you watch is of Maveric promising to loose every hand he plays for an hour... after that time is up He took all their money, and asks "What is it do you think I was doing that first hour?" "I was learning your tells."
I have been doing the same thing for the past 8 years. Now what do you think I've been doing with that information? Bragging about my victorys? Uh, no. I take everything said break it down research it and build counter arguements, then I bring them here and see what you all can do with them. If they make it though the gauntlet the arguements get passed along, if they don't i try again.
If you think you could hold your own with any of the kids I have taught, then bring it. Ill see if anyone wants to 'play.'

Prayer wasn't taken out of schools. Kids are allowed to pray before or between classes. However, teachers can't led official prayer sessions, and are not allowed to bully kids into praying.

But you get the point I was trying to make. No, technically, no one is stopping a kid from praying in schools. The point is, public school is a government run institution. The staff are not allowed to lead prayer, because it violates First Amendment rights. That is what I was saying. I just didn't think I needed to be THAT specific with it.

To add to what Judi is saying, prayer was never actually removed from our schools. Religion was removed from the curriculum and school sanctioned prayer was tossed out. If kids want to pray before a test or say grace at lunch, that is still their right and no one is trying to take it away.
