Where do you buy from and what do you tend to brew?

I only have a couple of batches under my belt. My first was a Hefenwisen and my second was a a honey ale. I go to either Ballast Point or Northern Brewing online.

Yeah. Got my last shipment from Northern Brewer.

Ballast Point on India Street (there used to be a Coca-Cola factory across the street if I recall correctly) is somewhat expensive....I prefer the Homebrewer on 30th Street and El Cajon Boulevard (around the same location at Belching Beaver Brewing Company).

I believe we also have something like Real Ale served at some micro-brews....cask ale. It's great for stouts and some IPAs. I wanted the ability to serve it at home, but the pump the home version of the beer pump they use was 500 dollars the last time I looked for one.

Firkins are at least gravity fed and don't need a beer engine to draw it out - but unless you keep it slightly pressurized with CO2 (and you really can't with a firkin), it's going to spoil fast.  My local pub that does firkin events ends up selling $5 growler fills at the end of the night because it just doesn't keep once tapped.

I would imagine a home cask system would have to be CO2 pressurized at least a little bit over atmospheric pressure.


...which reminds me - time to pick up a 1/6BBL of something tasty.

i am cheap when it comes too beer that being said there is a corner store in my private housing complex so i go there grab a ice cold pabst blue ribbon and enjoy it at home.

PBR is the worst of them all. It already tastes like beer vomit.

I don't like it but its cheap on the wallet. Though i am going to get some German lager one day.

Well, I live in Madison.

So, as you can imagine, craft beer is pretty much the only beer I drink.

I mean, when you have like 50+ different brews to choose from, why bother with the mass-produced crap loaded with all of its flavor-murdering preservatives?

Generally I prefer micro brews. I make some exceptions. I do drink Guiness. Budwiser and Coors taste like salty water. No thanks.

I prefer wine.

On those occasions when I've had a craft beer I thought they tried way too hard to be different and not nearly hard enough to be good.
