Doesn't matter what it was designed for.  It's still the the cause of death and injuries to way more innocent people than guns.

Not an argument. "Other bad shit happens so lets not do anything about this shit".

Guns or booze, no we don't need to be a society of people wrapped in bubble wrap where no one gets to have fun. Stop making stupid arguments like that. No one is arguing taking all guns or all booze away.

The problem is our lack of investment in better pay and health care. AND our flooded market of guns. Economically stable homes will reduce social problems and gun violence.

It can be a remedy for indigestion. While it's true that it causes a lot of harm when misused, guns don't really have any other uses than shooting. I see your point, but I'd still argue that guns are more dangerous and the harm from alcohol is more easily preventable than the harm from firearm use.

Guns used for the right purpose are also fine--hunting and self-defense for example. The ill effects on society are much higher from alcohol abuse than from gun abuse. It's not a matter of whether or not they can be okay, but rather what harm they cause to society.

Well I've got to throw this out here for no other reason than to stir the pot. [Image: 6e52a90f2c9b65480c27ecd68d69867c.jpg]

You can add two-parent homes to that. Thirty years ago gun control laws were almost non-existent and we didn't have people shooting up schools, restaurants and offices. Now, all of a sudden, we need strong gun control laws.

Again, still not an argument.

"Other bad shit happens so do nothing about this shit" IS NOT AN ARGUMENT.

All those industries are businesses and just like workers and the poor they are going to lobby for their own self interests, the difference is big business has way more fleets of lawyers than the rest of society.

You want to end deaths in all those aspects? End corporate welfare, end tax breaks for the rich, and monopolies.

Still not an excuse to avoid reducing gun death.

Your chart conveniently leaves out suicides, KUSA.

And what about all the poor bastards who are just wounded?

For the record, I like guns and I hate nuts. Gun nuts happen to be the worst kind of nut.

I'm all for improving the economic status of everyone. I think it would improve the situation in the US quite a bit. We would still have murders but probably a lot less. Simply removing guns without doing anything else would not be a solution to the murder problem.

We need to focus on the economy, mental health, and the overall culture. People shouldn't want to kill other people. There is a huge problem if they do.

Hard for parents to be at home when they constantly have to work because they don't make enough. 30 years ago we didn't have the pay gap and we also didn't have our current population or the amount of guns.

And stop calling it "gun control" that is cold war crap the right uses to scare gullible gun owners. I wish the left would stop using that term too. I see nothing wrong with "gun safety". Are you against gun safety? Or do you think a girl who will be scared for life for killing her instructor is ok because the adults who let her do it were to fucking stupid to understand an Uzi isn't a toy?

Oh and FYI the nutters love to use Hitler as an example. Nope, after WW1 the allies put heavy gun regulations on Germany. Hitler was the one who relaxed them, but for party loyalists only.

There is no conspiracy by the democrats to turn America into a fascist state. Australia had a mass shooting a few years ago, woke up, put their foot down, they are still an open society. Japan has virtually no guns and the cops have no guns, but that is  because people don't feel the need to own them, and they also don't have our pay gap and they are also not a fascist state.
